Both give me friggin' goosebumps

i'm right there with you, man. chills all over
when i first heard it. the way the pitch sounds
and how it lingers is untouchable.

the v8 had a little more bellow to it but
still sounded fantastic.

The V8 sounds good but man am i going to miss that chest pounding sound of the V10. I'll never forget that one experience in my life.
The V10 has a more powerfull sound to it whereas the V8 kind of sounds empty, these no bass in it. I expected it to have more of a high pitched sound compared to the V10 but from that soundclip the V10 sounds like it's running with higher revs.

Man, the V8 sounds good, but it just doesn’t have any meat in it. It doesn’t have the sound that tells you in could rip up the tarmac if it wanted.

It just doesn’t sound alive. :indiff:

I never got to see the V10's live. I think the V10s sound wilder and more alive. Like, they sound like a living being.

The V8's sound more mechanical and buzzy. I wonder what a V6 would sound like.

The V8 definitely sounds like a cross between a normal V10 and an IRL engine. I prefer the V10, but I'd love to hear a V12 in action :dopey: .

As a matter of fact, I think the FIA should allow only restricted V12s. That would be really cool!

My dad and I were lucky enough to watch a '95 Ferrari 412T2 turn some laps at a vintage event at California Speedway last year. Sounded awesome, but not as good as it did in the onboard shots on F1 Decade.

I dunno, when that V8 goes past it just sounds like it is only at like 80% throttle or something. I prefer the V10's and i was lucky enough to see them live 3 times, with one of the times being without traction control.

Still prefer the V10's...

A touch one, but i like V8 more. It sounds nice and raw, best V8 has to be in the old TVR's.

And that's the last we'll hear of them...1996 races will be the order for next year's F1 Decade.

I wish SpeedChannel could give us something from 15-20-25+ years ago in the weeks in between races. Although, before the late-1970's there were few "whole" races broadcasted anywhere, except locally.

I prefer the V10. Its sounds more exciting and it has a hell of a scream.
Nice to hear the sound of an F1 engine again.....

i prefer the V10, but again they both sound good! And a V12 in an F1 car, turbocharged and Nos, now that would be insane!!! (but i dont think it would be able to do that!!)

lmao. Could you imagine David Hobbs commentating on that?

"Ooooh, and Kimi comes round the bend, but-- oh-- NAWSZZZZ!!!!!!!!"

V10s ALWAYS sound good! :sly:

I'm with TVR on this one. I prefer the V8. The V10 just sounds a bit artificial, a glorious sound non the less but I prefer a more raw sound. Sounds like the V10's when they were just crossing over from the V8's back in the early 90's.

That would be too fast.

But cool tho. Somewhat like the A1 GP boost thingy.
Would make overtaking a strategy.

They both sound awesome. I think the v10 sounds better, though.

Man, I really wanna hear one of those V10's howling in real life.

Back 1998, I went to the Spanish GP, and all the F1 cars were using V10s by that time. To be honest, they all had a similar shreik and howling noise, no matter what the manufacturer. If I can recall, the two that were a little different were the Mugen-Honda and Peugeot V10. But most of them, Ferrari included, sounded alike.

Maybe since I was was raised on the wide-open turbo/NA/piston/rotor/I4-V6-8-12, IMSA formula, where no two engines sounded alike, my opinion's a little jaded.
