Valentino Balboni Clio Cup – My Custom 20-Car One-Make Series in GT7

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share a Gran Turismo 7 project that I’ve put quite a lot of time into: my own Valentino Balboni Clio Cup.
The idea was simple: build a complete 20-car one-make racing series based on the Renault Clio R.S. 220 Trophy ’15, with every car using the same technical specification and the same final setup.

I first built and developed one Clio and spent roughly two days driving and refining the setup on the Nürburgring 24h layout. Once I was satisfied with the car, I used that specification as the basis for the entire 20-car field.

The cars have different liveries and race numbers to give them their own identities, but technically they are identical. The philosophy behind the Cup is that the car should not make the difference – the driver should.

The final Clio produces 322 kW at 991 kg with 677.45 PP, running on Racing Soft tyres. I also developed the suspension, LSD and transmission specifically around the character of the car and the Nürburgring.

During testing I documented seven complete runs with all 16 sector times. The fastest documented lap was 8:33.013.
And because I wanted this to be a complete project rather than just another GT7 setup, I also calculated what it actually costs to build the entire field:

383,900 Cr. per car
20 cars = 7,678,000 Cr. total investment

I’ve put the complete project into the attached PDF, including the cars, setup, gearbox, testing data, all sector times, cost breakdown and some pictures from the Cup.

I’d genuinely be interested to hear what the GTPlanet community thinks about the concept, the setup and the idea of building a complete one-make championship like this in GT7.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look through my project.

I have now added the complete presentation directly to the thread as images, so everyone can view the entire Clio Cup project simply by scrolling through the post.

The original PDF will remain attached below for anyone who would prefer to download and keep the complete presentation.
I hope this makes the project a little easier and more enjoyable to explore.

Thank you again for your interest, and I would be very happy to hear your thoughts, questions or feedback.

Impressive.

Shouldn’t be the car less powered to be closer to the real ones competing in their normal championships?

Thank you very much for your interest and for taking the time to comment – I really appreciate it.

You are absolutely right that real-world Clio Cup cars can run with different, and in some championships lower, power figures depending on the regulations.

However, my Valentino Balboni Clio Cup is not intended to be an exact recreation of one specific real-world Clio Cup championship. It is my own interpretation of a Clio Cup within Gran Turismo 7, using a set of regulations and a technical specification that I created myself.

My main goal was to build a complete 20-car one-make series with technically identical cars, where the difference should come from the driver rather than the car. That is why I chose and developed the power level and overall setup exactly as I imagined my own Clio Cup should be.

And honestly, that was a big part of the enjoyment of this project for me – having the freedom to develop my own version of such a racing series.

Thank you again for taking a look at the project and for your feedback!
