So, at about 11pm last night I heard some POS car driving by, which is entirely common because I live near a housing project. Sounded just like any other falling apart 4 banger with a bad exhaust. Then I heard some kind of gunshots and breaking glass, resulting in me being on the other side of the bed pretty damn fast. Immediately after that I checked my window and didn't see anything and didn't notice any damage to the living room (front of the house, huge window) one either. This morning my mom woke me up telling me the living room window was busted out. Yup...

Paintballs. Mother ****ers! I'll get pictures up when I feel like going out, but they broke the outer pane of glass, lots of cracks and two holes, one being about six inches across. Two more shots there and they probably could have taken out the plasma too.

But this isn't just some sympathy thread. The cops have a suspect already but the cop on the case won't be on duty until 3pm (what the hell?). I played paintball with friends tuesday. There weren't any fights or anything.

It's a bizarre paint that I've never seen before and I'm checking around with those we played with to see who may have had it, if it was even them. The fill is orange and the pieces of the shells appear to be a base color of orange with concentric blue rings/stripes. Hopefully someone here has an idea what paint that is so I can continue hunting the person myself before the damn police decide to get their asses to work?

Don't rag on the man (pun partially intended). He has to sleep sometime. My wife is an ER nurse and has worked every conceivable shift known to man - 7am-3pm, 2pm-10pm, etc. Her current schedule is Friday 7pm-7am, same for Saturday and Sunday is 11pm-7am. A police officer starting at 3pm isn't strange. If it wasn't for guys like that willing to work odd shifts, there would be no 24 hour coverage. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue if everyone worked 8-5?

Back on topic, I hope the punk(s) responsible are caught. I hate morons like that that ruin it for everyone. Next thing you know, paintball guns will require a background check and a waiting period.

You already have to be 18 to get anything paintball related at Walmart. :ouch:

Closing in on 31, that hasn't been an issue for quite some time.

Damn, that sucks. I do airsoft a lot around in my yard and my friends house; but we keep it away from windows and such. Not to mention we don't go around doing this sort of thing. Hope it works out for ya.

So wait, do you paintball with your own gear or hired out stuff? I can't imagine anyone would go out and buy a painball gun for abit of revenge.

The other idea is that perhaps they didn't think it'd do any damage. Personally, I didn't think paintball would break class if shot from any sort of distance, and how close could they have been with a drive by?

Figured out who it is, the cops suggested just working with the parents because going through court won't do us any good or them any harm.

They broke a bunch of other windows one street over, too.

@EE: We use our own stuff playing in people's woods and fields that we have permission to play in. I never talk to these bastards (sophomores) so unless someone told them what house I lived in or just happened to like that big window, I don't know why they did it to me. It obviously took multiple shots in a tight pattern to bust because there are some stray shots around the hole that didn't do any damage.

And yeah, I played with these two tuesday...

So one of the father's is coming by Saturday to fix the window. Whatever punishment they get from their parents is all they will be getting, it seems.

High school sophomores? I must tell you, at least around where I live, a good deal of sophomore guys have near-dangerously high self esteem, low maturity levels (yeah, lower than my standards), and a "tough guy" complex. IMHO, it comes with the territory.

Good thing they got caught! 👍

It doesn't really matter that they got caught. The only punishment they are receiving is whatever their parents dish out. :indiff:

Sounds like lazy police and a fear of paper work. More over, it sounds like they aren't interested in following up with court work and all that stuff.

I'd be careful in this situation as the longer you wait to get anything done the less the law has power to make anything happen.

That means that if the father doesn't fix the window this weekend then I'd go file whatever possible with the local police and have the punk arrested. 👍

Remember, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is a saying that has been around for a long time and there's a reason for it... Don't be surprised when the father turns out to be as worthless as his punk son and your window still isn't fixed by monday. :irked:

Good luck, I hope this turns out for the best!

Keep in mind that my word means nothing. I would be taking these two to court just for their own hassle and for them to be on probation, etc. if I had the choice.

Where I live people get revenge by doing the exact thing that happened to us, and then more... If someone here got their window shot out by a paintball gun, and they knew who did it, they would go and shoot TWO of theirs out... Then shoot them...

I don't recommend it.

We didn't notice until earlier today that they also put a hole in my window. He's gonna take care of that Monday because we aren't too certain about whether the window frame is gonna fall apart when we take it out. He's getting the new glass for the living room window as I post this.

I didn't get to hear the full conversation, unfortunately. He had both offenders there and when he had them apologize to me and my mom it was a "Yeah, we're sorry...It was stupid." kind of things. I turned and walked away.

Just wanted to add that one of them broke their leg in two places today at a basketball camp. I laughed a bit.

What goes around comes around...................:)
I was unhappy to hear what happened to you Eric, that was very rude and immature but hearing this made me smile.

How deliciously.... Eeeeevil. *pinky to mouth*

Glad to hear that you caught them.

Just to rub it in a bit, you ought to go out and give the guy a hand. Or at least something cool to drink.

You're a better kid than his, in that aspect. So not only is his kid a delinquent, but he's crap at helping his dad.

As for the paintball issue, I used to play quite extensively. (Then got married, coincidence?) On a regular occasion, we'd hear about kids painting up stores or homes, and we'd shown up in force to help the clean-up. Make a show that some 'ballers were not the stupid kids in cars with nothing to do. With the local field on our shirts, it made a good show that we were there and actually cared about the reputation of our field and it representatives.
