I used the 'Search this forum' button to search for a weather thread, so excuse me if there is one.

As you could have guessed from the title, I think it would be a good idea to changeable weather on every track in GT5. GT4 had Tsukuba in the wet and I think GT3 had Clubman Stage 5 (that night track or whatever its called) in the wet. It would be great in the long races, one minute it would be wet, the next it could be dry. It would add on extra driving challenge if you ever get bored of trudging around the same circuit for 50 odd laps.

Sorry - but this topic has been beaten to death with a stick on more occasions than I care to think about..

But yes.. Changing weather would be awesome..

Have you looked in all the Wishlists in the GT5 forum ?...

Whoops, just noticed the 'Things other than cars that you want in GT5' thread. Apologies from me.

Bentley, dont go post stuff like that. It doesn't have any purpose, there has been a sticky on this, it's called "In Before The Lock" and it's not allowed.

For the whole GT5 forum, I think these threads deserve no chance because the GT5 car wishlist and the "things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars" covers everything of GT5 but the release date.

One thread called "Everything about the release date" and we will never have to look to a new thread at all. Now is that what we really want:odd: I dont think many would agree with that. 3 Threads shouldn't be able to cover a complete forum in the first place IMO.

Niels, I agree, this is a big topic and currently doesnt have a thread, atleast not one the maker found or one I can remember, it deserves more than a random mention every now and then in a thread that's hundereds of pages long.

Personally I think that variable weather could play a large part in the game, especially if it was like GTR2 where it's capabale of having one part of the track can have one type of weather and another part a different one. Also time changes, and real time, time changes. Imagine racing the ring at night, in the rain, that'd be pretty hairy.

Variable weather would be great to have, specially in the endurance races. The old "Le Mans 24 Hours" had it and that (along with the day/night cycle and the 24 cars on track) gave to anyone who played it that extra bit of "realism" that GT4's enduros seriously lack.

I won my first 24 hours race in that game because it rained almost all night and the AI Audi cars (until that moment consistently fast and hard to follow) slowed more in the wet than I did.:sly:

(And I really hope to have the same kind of experience with the much better graphics, sound and physics GT5 will provide. GT4 failed heavily here, with those boring 24 hours without saves, without rain, without a large field of cars and ... without night)

You just earned some creds there - Good post from the man !... 👍

Along with variable/selectable weather, I'd like to see a weather calendar implemented invisibly, so that the weather changes from "year" to "year," or even profile to profile. So every time you start at day one in GT5, it will have a different history waiting for you.

Or what if there was a 'real world weather' feature like on flight sim 2004?

So if you went to nurburgring, it would load up the exact weather as it is there now.

And it would be good if the weather changes during races...

OHH...... now that's a thought! That would require some clever coding, but I doubt it would be that involved. After all a partly cloudy or rainy day doesn't have to match cloud for cloud, or drop for drop, and the PS3 could access weather.com. That would also work well with the real time clock option someone mentioned, where the track reflected the time of day of your current location.

Yea,

I wouldn't expect the weather to be that close even if the real-world weather feature was included in GT5, but it'll still be a good idea to get the same sort of weather - i don't want to see the exact same weather all the time like in GT4...

It'll be interesting if they had any weather changes...👍

I'm not entirely sure, nor do I mean to OT, but I think SimBin is working on that along with other features for GTR2.

That would be awesome. I have a feeling that whoever implements it first is going to open the floodgates for it to appear in all sorts of games, like outdoor sports games, shooters, RPGs, flight sims, you name it.

I heard something about simbin doin that as well,

It'll be a welcome addition to the GT series.

And what about the day and night? I think ists necessary for races like Le Mans.

It's possible for that to be included with the 'real world weather' feature (doubt they'd do it though), but anyways - you've got a good point 👍

There are plenty of games that can have day/night cycle and GT5 ought to have it...

I wouldn't want a real world weather and time of day feature to be mandatory, think about it, any tracks I play that are Australia will nearly always be night, any tracks I play in England will nearly always be raining ect. It'd be a cool feature, but as an added feature only. I don't want to race at Bathurst only at night because that's when I'm playing here in the UK.

As far as the 'real world weather' feature being an optional...ur...option. I would have to say it'll be better off if we get the option to choose our weather, time, etc. and then wen we race, for the weather to change realisticly (as well as the time to continue from the time you started the race).

To be honest, i'd rather do that than have real world weather, but optional real world weather would still be nice...

i like the idea...and agree with it. but if its evening here, its night there.

maybe have a setting where you can adjuct it for your own personal location. and when you do that have it plug into the local weahter there. if its raining at your place, itll be raining in GT5. whatdaya think?

itspossible and hopefully something like that can happen. it would make any 24hr race unbelievably realistic. in order to do that tho, you need cars with headlights you can turn on and off.oohh, a whole new subject... :)

The variable weather is really variable or have a pattern? is the previous tire selection conditionable to further result?

edit: in practice mode

I've seen variable weather online, been driving a 24-minute race around La Sarthe when it stopped raining, and the track started to dry.
