Camber setting in the course maker - I love this, any new functionality there is great.

Car ballast adjustment - Mixed opinions on this, I like the idea of sticking maybe 20 - 30 kilos front middle or back to aid weight transfer (very useful at the back when you have no ABS) but I think the potential for 200KG of ballast is ridiculous.

Fuel depletion and tyre wear can be turned off in on-line mode - Like this aswell when drifting.

Fully adjustable gear ratios - I wont get any use out of this, just changing the final gear seemed to do the job very nicely, so to me pointless but for you guys I guess you'll like it.

Increased xp for races - Come on PD, strap on a pair and stick to your convictions, you set the XP like that for a reason, don't go increasing it just like that.

Multi-monitor support - To me pointless, to others, well, I'm sure someone will find a silly use for it.

Multi select - This is good!

New filters in the on-line lobbies - I think this will make things better online, not sure yet, I have been online but haven't really seen anything better?

New pre-gt life cut-scenes - Why?!? Waste of time.

Notification for already purchased cars in the dealership - Great! Very happy with this! Very useful for us car collectors!

On-line dealership has more cars - Great I guess?

Performance point system - Why go and make a new game and then back track and make it like the old game? HP and weight limits seemed to work fine but hey, whatever you want)

Power limiter on the tuning menu - Don't like this, I can understand a drop a couple of HP, but being able to make an X1 go into an 800bhp limited race is ridiculous.

Races can be scheduled to start at a specific time - Don't like this. Annoys me online how lazy people are scheduling for every five minutes and then spending four minutes making changes to regulations!

Remote race icon below the lounge icon - I think this is a bad thing on PD's part (not looking at it from a gamers view as everyones views are clearly clouded so I'm not starting that one)

Restart race has a confirm menu - Is already annoying me! Do you want to restart? Of course I do that is why I pressed the button!

Seasonal events with new created tracks - PD just use original tracks! Again, stick to the convictions!

Stick sensitivity option - Why? I golded all the licenses with a controller so why do we need a stick sensitivity option? To drive the X1? Just spend a but of time adapting to it!

TV camera when entering pits - Stupid stupid little thing this is! What a jolly waste of time!

You can choose different tires for front and rear - We could do this anyway why do we need this twice?

You can use course maker tracks on-line - This is good!

Vettel challenge bronze target time increased - PD why make a challenging event and then make it easy? You really do boggle my mind!

So, as you can see above half of the updates are useless, what about the little things? Such as ...

If I drive a recommended car online, I should be able to set up the brake bias before the race so that I don't forget to alter it in the three seconds I get before the race starts!

The option to save a game during an endurance! The number one most wanted update and you leave that out! PD what are you playing at really!

Anyway, what do you guys think?

And before this turns into a thread where everyone shouts at me for whining let me just say this:

I am not whining about the update, I am just giving my honest opinion on the individual parts of the update. You are welcome to join in on this thread and give your OPINIONS on the UPDATE but you are not welcome to join this thread and start saying that I'm whining about this and that and that I should just not use this or that if I do like it.

So once again to reiterate ... This thread is for you to give your opinion on the update itself. Not opinions on others views etc.

How ridiculous is it that I have to say that on a larage forum such as this.

No update for me for a while thanks to internet being cut off by BT (Bangalore Telecom) idiots!

Interested to know what affect this has on the seasonals and licenses! Finally did IC10 in gold last night and if they've improved the AI good luck doing that one!

Slowly working through the special events until my Internet is back on - or should I wait??

I wish they put the x4 speed for B-Spec on there as I cant be bothered watching him go through 24hrs worth of my electric for the final endurance races!

Seasonal events with new created tracks - PD just use original tracks! Again, stick to the convictions!

[/QUOTE]

On the whole I agree with all the sentiments that you've put over. I'm with you on almost everything you said. Of all the components within the update only a couple of the things are even near useful to me.

However, I can't see anything wrong with new tracks in the Seasonals. New generated tracks from the basis of Tarmac, rally, snow or whatever is a pretty good thing I think.

But your points are spot on otherwise and are very valid...

👎 Restart race has a confirm menu - Is already annoying me! Do you want to restart? Of course I do that is why I pressed the button!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "Restart" confirmation is what real drivers need. If you reach the true Indurance races like Circuit de la sarthe 24 hours of Lemans & Nurburgring Nordschleife 24 hours then you don't want to hit that "Restart" option when you are at the 16th hour (unless there is a 911 call) - and that what happened to me. ( I wrote PD on this). Good job PD.

Yeah there seem to be a lot of little fixes to things that should have been in there when the game was released. A lot of stuff, like slightly faster loading menu screens, are minor tweaks but should have been fixed by redesigning the navigation so you have quicker access to things (like tuning in the tuning shop, combining GT auto and tuning into the same screen so you don't have to jump around so much.)

You STILL can't find out the tires of opponents in A-Spec or Seasonals without running a race and watching the replay. You have a PP rating for your cars, but you can't see the PP rating of opponent cars. Completely baffling.

I thought we were getting TT leaderboards and online matchmaking and ranking. That's what I was looking forward to the most, but noo.

And SRF locked in the "on" position for Seasonal bonus races? Good grief. What. Are. They. Thinking.

I'm starting to get the feeling that we've all paid $60 for the "privilege" of being beta testers for the upcoming GT5 which will be released sometime in 2012.

One little part of the update annoying me is that when you go on profiles its default is now A-spec rank, rather than Online ID, where I could find people easier. Not a massive issue, but still a bit annoying. :(

Multi-monitor support - To me pointless, to others, well, I'm sure someone will find a silly use for it.

Yes, it is expensive, and a luxury, but so is owning and playing on PS3, right?

This is the only way Cockpit view can be played the proper way. We do have side windows in our actual vehicles.

First of all, can I just say, thank you everyone for discussing the topic at hand only! It is great to hear everyones proper opinions :)

On your point p0p0ng, the restart button is just something I've never had a problem with, it is something that I've took every precaution to avoid, such as turning the controller off if I go to do something else (so one of my two dogs don't press a button by accident say) and I double check the icon I'm hovering on before I press anything, so I have had no problems with it to date. However, now as you mention it in relation to the 24Hr races I can see I have overlooked that in relation to restarting one of those 23 hours in lol! :P

So I shall correct myself (well, I'll just explain why its annoying me :P) The restart feature is a great feature to stop you restarting endurance races but it is annoying when you have to keep clicking yes to restart when doing seasonal events in the F1 on Suzuka lol! :P

I can imagine that restart function will make those going for all gold in the licenses even more frustrated lol! :P

Still no option to save multiple setups per car.

Still no option to save multiple setups per car.

That is one I couldn't remember! Just two options to save maybe a smooth track set up and a rought track set up, in the long run it would be great to have a general set up, a drift set up, an endurance set up and a nurburgring set up, maybe a rally set up dependent upon car, just maybe space for five different tunes. That would really help tuning cars as I try to set up my Zonda yet I have to bounce between two cars testin this that and the other, be great just to have one car.

Some people are never happy, moan moan moan, at least pd are supporting the game and releasing updates, some other devs just forget the buying public after a game hits the market (dirt 2 for example)

Bangalore Telecom is probably better than British Telecom, probably.

The thing is that Dirt 2 was more feature complete on release than GT5 is now. PD still hasn't added some very basic features that are pretty much standard across driving games.

Anyway some people are never happy about message board threads, moan moan moan.

I was merely pointing out something I was hoping to see in the update. I have no sad face and love the game.

Some people are never happy, moan moan moan,

Please read the end of my first post. Then please alter your post as that is something I asked to be left at the door.

As said above, we are only discussing our opinions of the update. We are not moaning.

I like the updates, from what I've read so far. Haven't had a chance to mess with them yet, but I will tonight.

I like that there was a balance of updates -- some were visual, some were performance related, some were interface related, some were content related, some were tuning, some were game play related. Smart set of fixes. Clearly more to do, but they've brought the 'playability' up for many users, and that's very good.

Obviously, they can't do everything at once. But if they keep going this direction, we'll have the outstanding game they're capable of.

Camber setting in the course maker - I don't use the course maker.

Car ballast adjustment - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

Fuel depletion and tyre wear can be turned off in on-line mode - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

Fully adjustable gear ratios - "I wont get any use out of this, just changing the final gear seemed to do the job very nicely, so to me pointless but for you guys I guess you'll like it." - I agree, but I think it's an important feature.

Increased xp for races - I wasn't planning on finishing this game anytime soon, the longer it takes to get to level 40, the better.

Multi-monitor support - I wish I had 3 PS3's and 3 matching HDTVs to set this up. Wife would shoot me.

Multi select - meh.

New filters in the on-line lobbies - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

New pre-gt life cut-scenes - I rarely see these some of the old ones were neat.

Notification for already purchased cars in the dealership - "Great! Very happy with this! Very useful for us car collectors!" Ditto.

On-line dealership has more cars - Great.

Performance point system - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

Power limiter on the tuning menu - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

Races can be scheduled to start at a specific time - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

Remote race icon below the lounge icon - Awesome!

Restart race has a confirm menu - I haven't tried the endurance races yet, but appreciate how a slip of the thumb could cost you. Good for the game.

Seasonal events with new created tracks - Awesome!

Stick sensitivity option - I don't understand what this is.

TV camera when entering pits - I don't understand.

You can choose different tires for front and rear - "We could do this anyway why do we need this twice?" Now you can do this from the 'Tuning' menu?

You can use course maker tracks on-line - I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much.

Vettel challenge bronze target time increased - Should I try to do this before it gets reset back to what it was?

So, as you can see above half of the updates are useless, what about the little things? Such as ...

Especially if "I don't race online, doesn't seem to affect me much."

If I drive a recommended car online, I should be able to set up the brake bias before the race so that I don't forget to alter it in the three seconds I get before the race starts!

The option to save a game during an endurance! The number one most wanted update and you leave that out! PD what are you playing at really!

In the past, doing an endurance race with friends, coffee, beer, pizza... was a blast. My life just isn't setup for that kind of fun anymore, so the endurance races aren't for me, and they won't get done. Why take that kind of fun away from the people who can enjoy it?

Int there now an option to loan your cars to a mate??? How does that work then???

Oh yeah and has anyone noticed that the UCD would only update when a load screen had happened......now it seems to update if you restart your race aswell :(

Bugger...made me miss out on a few cars that has!!!

To the op: You really see no point in the PP system? Come on, it allows car that have similar performance but different power or weight to compete with each other. Loved the PP in Prologue and all the FM series. There will always be some issues but they can't out weigh the benefits imo.

And I love the way my caterham has more than my ford GT race car!

I love this update:) If they keep things has they are, soon we will have another fixing and adding other things...
Keep on it PD 👍

Well, I would like the PP system if there was less of a range on ballast and the engine power ... As I said, you can give the X1 the same PP as a 750bhp car, which I think is close to ridiculous.
