Vectorizing text?

The other day, I posted a topic regarding my decals not appearing. This is because I was using conversion websites. A user on here pointed me to inkscape, now I can successfully see the logos I make.

The main thing I plan to use the decal uploader for is text, as picking and placing one letter at a time and sizing them all up is quite annoying in the livery creator.

Unfortunately, even after turning the text into a vector, it will not appear. I did not manually trace the text, I just did path > object to path. That turns it into a vector on my computer. Unfortunately, this text is invisible in the game, while the logos (which were manually traced) are visible. Any suggestions apart from tracing the text?

Open the file in a text editor, and copy and paste its contents here in CODE tags, the problem might be obvious in teh XML code.

Is this what you mean by code tags?

I use Adobe Illustrator, unfortunately isn't free, so not so legal :/
But in Illustrator you just use the text function, save as svg, and done.

@TheGeologist

Hmm, Inkscape puts a lot of pointless stuff in there!

Everywhere where you see the word font, means that it's carrying over some of the styling elements from when it was formatted as text. rather than curves. It's possible that since GTS doesn't use text, that it's ignoring the fill colour portion of the style, or being confused by tags it doesn't recognise.

In Inkscape you could try entering the text first with no formatting, converting it to paths, then resizing it and colouring it, and try not to group anything you don't really need to.... but I don't use Inkscape, so I'm not sure what the other options are.

Beyond that, running it through SVGOMG will remove a lot of the unused tags, which might clear it up a bit too.

I can get my hands on illustrator for free bc I'm a student. But, Inkscape is a really good program. I saved the text as an SVG but it doesn't appear. It is weird because the logo in the same file appears, but not the text

I did a simple Shell lettering from the early 90s, as I want to make the livery for the Porsche 911 (964) used by Mika Hakkinen to win the Supercup race in Monaco 1993 (the only guest driver to do so, and twice, as he was invited also in Hungary race, winning again).
The Shell logo is roughly the same, the lettering completely different, the svg was only the lettering.

I'm glad you lot are taking time to upload decals. I have no idea what 90% of this thread is saying. But when I go to download new decals I'm always thankful for the work of a dedicated few :gtpflag:
Well, I made use of the decals uploaded by other pals who add access earlier to the platform. Only had access yesterday, like most of the people.
Some of the few first ones had most of the work, as many of the logos I usually need are already there :D
