What do you go with?

Do you get a light weight car and beat your opponents in the inside or outside line of the first few turns?

Do you get a fully tuned speed demon and blast part your opponents off the starting line, hoping to get a few seconds ahead and compensate for your slow turns?

Do you match up to whatever you're facing?

Do you just adapt to the situation appropriately?

I usually adapt to the situation i'm in. But most of the time i like to have a balanced car, maybe a little more on the speed demon side. There are quite a few cars like this, after all. Especially if you tune well.

I ussually just pick the car i feel like racing, and hope that it is a car i can win with. Sometimes i feel like blowing away the competition, but others a close race is fun. All depends on my mood

I try to make it as competitive as possible, to me it's no fun if your so way in front that you can stop, have a picnic and still win.

I generally have a slower/less powerful car that the AI and rely on beating them in the corners - the AI are just so bad at cornering and judging braking distances

Same as above, no challenge=no fun in my opinion. The ONLY time i use a car to blow away the opponents, is to clean up my championships were i was unable to win every race.

I just beef up whatever I using so it will just blow away the competition. I honestly just enjoy going around the tracks as fast as I can. The AI. is soo generic I could care less to struggle with them. I'd rather take a blazingly fast exotic in the...I dunno...Clubman or something & just have fun with it. Kinda like a test run but I progress in the game.

Oh, & I suck at this game. :dopey:

Doesnt matter to me, i just try and keep the speed going throughout the race and consistent through turns. Thats what builds a lead. Sure speed helps on the straights but if you corner slowly because of it you might as well be in slower car.

I always lightweight stage 1
Intake Exhaust and chip
Sports Suspension
Upgrade bakes
N3/2 Tyres

That's what we run IRL at track days :-)

I try to match the A1 by going into the race and see what sort of speed they achieve and tuning to suite. Does have it’s draw backs though as GT4 throws in one really fast car that blows every thing away, but if you quit and go back in the race once or twice you get a field of cars equal matched.

...sad I know but I can’t see the point in just winning with an over powered car. If I want to improve lap time I use the test sessions.

i usually just pick a car i feel like using and add most none HP parts and hope it's up for the job... most of the time i have a unequipped NA or Turbo available just in case the AI comes up with something i could not match in my choice of car without the extra HP

sometimes i'm just messing about and just pick a over powered car and go to the beginner races to have some fun

I simply go for the most A-spec points while still maintaining a chance to win. I am just over 50% now with about 26,000 A-Spec points. Every race is a challenge, I would have stopped playing long ago otherwise. This keeps me going.

depends on the race....sumtimes i lik a challenge and don't use a car at all :)

Hahaha

I usually try to get like 30 A-spec points (I know I suck)... So I usually use the same car but with a few mods...

Speed up in the corners to kill em! Passing on the straight is a shame...

Erm... surely if you're going faster round the corner, there's a good chance you'll have a higher exit speed, and thus overtake on the following straight? No shame in that - only in overtaking simply by exerting a bit of pressure on the x button in a powerful car.

has to be said tho - 2CV racing is hilarious for overtaking. Trying to coax your own past the AI with a 1-2mph speed difference is quite intense...

If my car is not fast enough to win and I want it to win I will add horsepower before grip. I find it easier to overtake on a straight. Also once you overtake someone I find horsepower is more likely to keep them behind you. It's fun once or twice at, say, Fuji, hassling someone all around the twisty bits, then diving down the inside of them into one of the tighter corners, only to have them steam past you on the straight, but sooner or later I'll want to repay the favour and horsepower the AI drivers into the grandstand. I also enjoy trying to lap cars in, say, a two lap race.

I like watching replays. Especially close ones. So I usually just do that. However, when I race against a friend, it's no holds. Makes a better replay if they drive like you too ;)

Depends what's in my garage, for example I haven't done the Italian race yet but I only have one Italian car the Cizeta which is far more powerful than the rest of the competition, I just use that and be done with it.

My style tends to vary. I mostly drive a comparable car with only sport brakes equipped, especially manufacturer races. But if I enter with an underpowered car, I'll equip brakes, clutch, flywheel, differential, and maybe exhaust, and chip if the acceleration bonus from the drivetrain isn't sufficient. In the GT races I'm feeling them out with the Minolta (way overkill), so I plan to go back with something to give me a better challenge.

Sounds like you and I have the same plan. It's fun to try and find what car/configuration will just let you squeak by with a win, and still get you 200 points. I'm at 41% and have 25,835A-spec right now, but there's a lot left on the I'm trying not to progress any further in the game until I can bring the rest of my lower spec points up where I think they should be. It's fun.

So in answer to the question, I will do all the handling and drivetrain mods and avoid power mods if I can get away with it. Then I'll tweak exhaust/chip and tires to try and get the best challenge I can from the race.

If I'm just trying to get more CR, then I'll pick a monster and destroy the competition. For example, "Special Conditions" Race #2, I blow the other car away with my fully tuned Saleen S7 or Ford GT. Win by over a minute every time! :D

Most of the time, though, I try to match up as much as I can, even in the endurance races (aside from the Super Speedway :yuck: )

Ever since finding the toyota rally car cheat, I dont really care to finnish the game. Instead I usually take my NSX stock everything except for stage 2 turbo and go to Nurubring racing either the Family cup with level set to 6 or doing practice runs. 👍
