in the land of stupidity
As you may well know, RSC is no more.

RSC had a "vendor" subforum were vendors could contact members and tell them about their products. Fanatec is already is doing this in the steering wheel and cockpit forum.

Shouldn't it be nice that these vendors become a part of GTplanet?
A lot of us have question about certain products e.g. Fanatec steering wheels and pedals. If there was a vendor's subforum, members could ask them questions about their products.

Also, could it be possible to have a "DIY" subfourm in the steering wheel & cockpit thread?

Just a suggestion.

Thats a pretty great Idea, that could bring some of our ideas closer to development and with 130 000+ members they would never run short of feedback. It is sad to hear that RSC has died, maybe some members will join here.

Yes, this is very unfortunate. I've actually reached out to them about acquiring, fixing, and continuing that community myself, but have not heard back from their administration.

I've been contacted by "sim racing" companies before, asking about the availability of "vendor" accounts, but I've rejected their requests because I assumed you guys would complain about their presence.

How would this forum be different from its parent?

I won't. Put it on GTP, asking in a poll whom want a Vendor subforum and whom don't.

Simple, it would be organized into one forum. At the moment, all the DIY projects are scattered in the steering wheel & cockpit forum. There are a lot of people whom are very "cunning" at creating their own hardware or adapting it.
This way it's better available for people whom want some advice on certain DIY projects. And, if the word gets out that there is a DIY subforum on GTP, more intelligent and very capable guys/girls will join GTP enriching this forum with their insight, inspiration on certain aspects that has to do with computer hardware and even software.

Vendors and DIY specialist on GTP will make GTP even more interesting for the international gaming community.

If a vendor subforum helped out with the costs of running the site and allowed you to give us better features because of the increased revenue I'd be all for it.

Just about all the forums I visit have a vendor's area and it's fine and a lot the vendors are extremely helpful. On the North American Motoring site (MINI forum) there are several vendors and they offer special deals, group buys, etc. for forum members. It works out real well. The best though is Tire Rack, there specialist on the forum is willing to help anyone find the right tires.

NAM also has a vendor review system which allows members to rate the vendor. If to many complaints are filed then the vendor is dropped from the site and the vendor accounts are banned. It happened just recently come to think of it.

Seeing from other sites like Nico or S-Chassis. It seemed that some vendors gave off certain discounts to members, but it was probably actual discount given at the store.

Vendors are very common on car enthusiast forums, because there's a huge base of car people asking for their parts and information.

Is the number of people on GTP asking for sim racing equipment large enough to justify it?

Judging by the amount of activity in the Steering wheels forum, no. It appears most people buy a wheel than make their own cockpit/stand.
