Yeah, i started trying to drift this morning. Got a RX-7 FD, got the parts, - the spoiler (I'd rather shoot my self then put those on my car) and tried, and these were thing things that I noticed

For starters, I got REALLY angry when I tried to figure out how to turn off my Force Feedback on my Drive force... only to find out that I can't. So I have to do it with out power to the motor, which means my wheel doesn't reset.

Secondly, I've found that when I hit the brakes, it kills my drift. This was the oposite from what it did in GT3.

After a while though, I STARTED to get the hang of it (got a long way to go), and I must say, it's amazing the difference in looks. While I still haven't gotten a long drift to go, I have done a bunch of small ones that look incredible. Well, anywhom, the point of all this. I was wondering if there was anyone who started drifting with automatic, and then switched to doing it manuel, and was hoping he/she could tell me how difficult the transition is. When ever I do it, I'm always worried about my RPM's. Secondly, is there a setting somewhere that is making my brakes not help me in my drifts, or am I doing something wrong. Thridly, check out this pic!

heh i guess you missed the other one eh? theres actually 3 of these posted up.
anyway, ive spent alot of time in the gymkhana park learning to drift/getting used to the physics. itll still take me a while, but im slowly getting used to it.

Err... didn't mean to...

Anywhom, I tried out doing manuel with my BMW Z4, and my god... I don't even know how I was able to drift at all in GT3. It's like, amazingly easier. I can hold a drift with out much problems now, I mean, I'm not great yet, but I actually do think I'm better then I ever was in GT3 now... that isn't saying too much though. Well, I'm gonna try my RX again, see if it was the car or the trans change. I'm sure I'll do fine though.

Keep you posted.

manual is preferable for drifting. also, keep your wheel on 100% force feedback. it will help you, believe it or not. if you whine about not being able to turn the wheel.....then, well...grow some muscles. lol. good luck.

it's not about not being able to turn the wheel, it's just that, it seems to turn itself. If I go to countersteer, I need to actually hold the wheel to stop it from going too far. It's annoying.

that's the point of force feedback and countersteering.

umm... I have no idea what ur talking about.

sorry....it was kind of vague.

anyway....the whole point of force feedback is to give you feedback from the road. so, it is easier to give the correct driver input based on the feel you get from what the wheel is doing, or wants to do.

i find the best way to prevent snap understeer or other errors is by reacting to the proper feedback, which can only be displayed to you while in 100% mode.

just trying to help you out....go ahead and expiriment though. nobody's stopping you. lol.
