Vertigo At Midfield

Updated with new Leader Hugo 👍. I wish I could see a fast T1 on an NTSC replay, the best I can manage is around 20.3.
 
Iceman, I finally got T-1 figured out. Several .2's and even did a .17 once. Will get my sharkport re-installed next week. Looking forward to seeing Ron and JB's runs. (NTSC)

The horseshoe is real touch and go for me, I don't have a consistent fast line heading into T-2. Too much curbs and she steps out, not enough and I'm pushing.

I've got a feeling that I'm losing time after T-1 into the first tunnel too, because a couple of times I feel I've nailed the horseshoe, and only came away with a 40.0.

Are you gonna do another spotty? Love this car, but not the track ;)
 
Well we could do another Vertigo spot race after a week or so, I think Deep Forest might be a good choice. And also, how can you view Ron's run when you are NTSC and he is PAL?

that's because Ron happens to race also in NTSC game, for arcade cars

I think his fastest replay is PAL though, and I really wanted to see the 20.0 T1.

@Iceman .... I still have my NTSC save which has a 20.101 T1 If I remember correctly? :dopey: I can post it if you like?

Sweet times so far guys ... gotta love Midfield! ... the easiest track in the game ( excluding the test course and speedway of course :p ) I could race this track in my sleep ..... in fact! ... I think I have! :sly: :lol:

yeah midfield is maybe one of the easiest tracks, maybe that's the reason for me going well on it

Quickly ran 10 laps before dinner, and got a 1'06.778 fairly easily. Tons of time for me out there, my line could be much tighter, and I could utilize the rumble strips more effectively, I just need to learn how to properly drive the car over them.
 
Another session on the track, and I've found some speed into the first tunnel. Earlier braking and a much more aggressive line into the tunnel is getting me to the horseshoe a couple of tenths quicker I think.

Midfield is such a simple track, yet imo very technical. Deceivingly so.

I really need to get back on this, but I'm starting up a challenge I'm going to be running. (See Long Race Series if your interested as the first race is at Midfield)

But I will try and get back to this and run it again.
 
Just getting the hang of it, but I've never been very fast in this car even though I do like driving it.

ASM?
TCS?
Shift at what rpm?

Edit: Had another little go at it and shaved another tenth off.

Still another tenth or 2 for me as I ran a little wide in the first tunnel. :ouch:
 
I mostly shift just before the limiter kicks in, but shifting just before redline doesn't seem to make a big difference. It depends on the corner, as I don't really like the gearing of the Vertigo for this track.

As you might have suspected no ASM & TCS!
 
Yep TCS on here also! (cant get the last tunnel without spinning with no TCS :nervous: ) props to Hugo for running without 👍



Had a few more runs and here's my best so far ... (Pal version)

I'm losing $hitloads from T2 onwards and have seen 39.5's but always disaster 👎

I'll try again soon If I can find some time ... will upload replay within the next day or so !

You might have problems with the last section, Ron, I cannot follow you in the first section :grumpy: . Fastest so far is a 20.121... I tried to copy your line in the first corner, but my car starts too slide then on the curbs :yuck:

Keeps it interesting though :)
 
Yep seems the DS2 helps on bend 1 and shafts you on the last section ... vice versa for the Wheel :crazy: ... maybe If we could swap controllers half way though the lap we could see a sub 1.05.5 :sly:

Wow, I wouldn't have thought anyone was running tcs. Ran some laps tonight with tcs on and what a difference. Easier in the horseshoe and definitely more manageable in the hairpin.

I can finally feel the 5's coming. Did a couple of 20.2's with the tcs on and a 39.9 t-2 for the first time. Just easier to drive with it on. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Had another go at this, time time it took me 5 laps to get under 1'06 :crazy: and it was this lap time:

1'05.743

No section was spectacular, just a good consistent run.

I'll post the replay shortly.
 
Updated times 👍. Would anyone like to see another race with the arcade Vertigo, I'm thinking Deep Forest 1 or 2?
 
Just got my shark disc back J.B., will look forward to seeing that last one. 👍

Always been a fan of Deep Forest 2, hey Ron, remember when we did that spotty there in the S2000 way back when at the GTD? Good stuff.

This thread and its contributors bring back memories. I wonder if any of you guys are still around. I got an old copy of gt3 for free the other day and did this combo--1:05.495, also ran full modded R390 (52.1x) and GT-One (51.947), but did little else before the disc quit on me. Well, that's about it, best wishes all.
