VERY cheap alternative to the g27

im wondering if anyone knows of any good cheap alternatives to the g27/g25 (or cheap places to buy them) as my parents wont pay $300 for a steering wheel controller (and yeah, ive found very low prices, but it has to be under $60)

so yeah, would really love some hlep with this, as the only one i can find, is this:

and while it looks good, i'd like to get one similar to the g27/g25 (has the full clutch/shifting capability

otherwise ill probably just end up getting the above twinwheel f1
 
$60 won't get you much unless you get really lucky and find a used DFGT that is priced low. Even a used G25/G27 will likely be more than that if it still works.
 
To be honest, if you can't find a wheel that'll be worth buying then it might be smarter to just save all your money.. And I don't know if you'll find much worth buying below $60..
 
If you want something comparable to a G27, then a DFGT is your cheapest option. Although, the G27 is a significant step up in quality. Save up for whichever you can afford as alot of people, myself included, end up upgrading their DFGT to a G27.
 
It's highly unlikely that you will find a G27 as cheap as $60.

Where I live (Australia) there's a great site called http://www.gumtree.com.au where people sell all sorts of things, and sometimes I find G27's and G25's going for as low as $150 which is cheap.

Just look around and save your pennies 👍
 
Don't do it. Get a second hand DFGT, or mow some lawns and buy a new one. Honestly, you'll be really happy you did.
 
Haha. Yes a second hand DFGT is an option but it's likely it will break down after something like a year. You propably don't have warranty then. ;D
And a DFGT only has a sequential shifter and paddle shifters. But you'll have great fun with a DFGT. It hasn't got a clutch or H-shifter. The G25/G27 is expensive for a reason. Don't expect something like that with your budget.

Haha, I actually found a G27 too expensive but after a broken DFGT I bought one. It was more expensive than my PS3 :(
 
Cheap wheels suck.

I've always had wheels with my PlayStations, starting out with a Mad Katz Jordan GP Wheel, then I had a Driving Force EX before moving onto the DFGT and now the G27. Each time I upgraded I thought the same thing... "Man, my last wheel sucked! Why didn't I upgrade sooner?!"

The DFGT is ok, but it's cheap because it is all plastic and lacks robustness. I should know I've had 2 because the first one cracked so all the buttons died.

The G27 is an investment in some ways, you can improve your driving much more with a wheel like this as opposed to a standard wheel like the DFGT as you can mod the pedals, shifter and wheel to something that suits you. None of this happens all at once, or without spending but there's a reason even 2nd hand G27's are expensive - they are good. Compared to a T500RS or decent Fanatec set-up they are actually good value.

I've saved up / worked hard and now have a G27 mounted to a Playseat Revolution Gran Turismo Edition seat, with custom carbon fibre wrap on the frame and wheel. I have replaced the shifter knob with a more normal size one and next on my to do list is replacing the brake spring. I do this because I love driving games and can justify the money spent against the hours and hours I spend playing them.

If $60 is all you have, but you are a casual, infrequent player then by all means go for a wheel that only offers basic left/right, go/stop functions with little or no feel of being connected to the the game. Just don't expect anything more.

But if you love driving games, and want to take it to the next level then go for a G27 or better. You won't regret it.

Your arms and legs might after a lengthy session playing on with the infamous 'One more lap' syndrome though...!
 
My advice, if you can't at the very least save up and get a DFGT, then stick to a controller. the cheaper wheels are cheap for a reason. No force feed back, so no feeling of what the car is doing, and made cheap as hell, so you might, maybe, get a few months of use out of it before it flakes out. Ultimately, you get what you pay for, and 60 bucks is only going to get you greef.
 
logoster my advice would be to save $40 in addition to the $60 your parents are willing to spend, wait for an offer and buy a new DFGT. You won't be disappointed with the DFGT, it's a good wheel and there are a few cheap mods you can do to the pedals to improve them. You can also get paddle shifters for it (highly recommended). Good luck.
 
If you can't afford a DFGT either, a Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience may be something for you. There are some with and without Force Feedback. If you want one, you should take the FF version. But: the quality is very poor, it has a very limited rotation angle and it is damn noicy. Even noicier than a DFGT. The gas/brake isn't good either.
And it doesn't work with GT5, I haven't tried it on other ps3 games. I had one myself for the ps2, it was my first racing wheel. But it really lacks on quality and durability. But it's cheap. My advice: save at least enough for a DFGT, preferably new considering warranty. ;)
 
There's no wheel that costs less than $100 and that has three pedals and a shifter. Tough luck.

Don't get anything that doesn't have FFB. Buying that Genius wheel is throwing money to the garbage bin, because you will not use it after a couple of days.

Personally, I wouldn't go lower than a new DFGT. If your parents can afford $60 on a gaming accessory then it means you get allowance, so save $40.

DFGT is good enough to begin
however i understand your parents who dont wanna spend more than $60
they believe sim wheel and pedals are more like some kind of console / computer accessories
