To me so far GT5 is just more Gran Turismo, which is exactly what I want. I love the vibe. The menus, music, trophy scenes when you win a series. The parts of the game you go through when you aren't playing are one of the reasons I love these games so much. I love Forza but they don't have a unique feel like the GT games.

One of the 3 games i bough a ps3 for :)

MGS4
GOW3
And finally i got my love GT5 :) and im having big time fun with it.

The physics are excellent, and the online menus are a step above GT5P's (and every other console racer I've played).

I may be going up and down the forums criticising the game, but it's only because I like it , and I want to enjoy it. For the parts that are done well, PD really does deserve a thanks.

I give it a 8.3, it's awesome sauce, with bits of stuff in there that need addressing. I love racing in arcade mode though, la sarthe in a McLaren F1 against 11 others...dude these guys are fast and they aren't stupid either. I'm taking a break from GT Life as I'm on level 15 and I barely touched the normal part of the game, special events take up the bulk of my GT life. Anyone know if you they let you clear all the trophies in Special Events so you can do them again like in GT4? Haven't come across this yet. On to online mode to check that out.

It really is something special. It's the first racing game I've played, including the previous 4 GT games, where I enjoy the driving so much that I don't really pay attention to things like what times I'm putting in or even what lap I'm on. Most races seem to end out of the blue, and I'm sad every time it happens.

If you don't have a wheel and have given even the tiniest amount of thought into getting one, get one ASAP. Buy it, ask for it for Christmas, whatever, just get one. GT5 with a force-feedback wheel is easily one of the best gaming experiences you'll ever have.

ditto.....

I Agree. It's pretty sophisticated. People who blame the music etc. because of the very same reasons do obviously not feel the unique GT spirit. That's fair enough but it just confirms that Yamauchi doesn't care much about gaming trends and has confidence enough to please his loyal followers. I like that approach in the year of 2010. 👍

The game has many fundamental modern racer flaws but I still do really like the game. Its one of those where if Ihad to by food for a week or GT5 i'd by the food of course :) But its still a great game worth the cash.

Right not I'm B-specing and watching the used car lots. I agree with IGN's review, its a 10/10 sim wrapped in a 5/10 game. But I'm looking forward to its additions.

I'm loving this game also guys, I have not been on the forums for a while because of GT5. Its such a great game and with DLC I bet Kaz will be giving us more treats!

Well said. This is the first game I've ever had where it's fun to just drive, not even worry about racing. We had a three car train on the 'ring at night in identical cars, that was amazing. 👍

There are times when I have just sat there with the steering wheel in front of me and just listening and looking and dancing and looking and.......well you get the picture....Oh and taking pictures!!

But the best thing about this game is that it is finally here and I dont see any other Race Sim matching GT5. Tell me if I'm wrong please but I wont be back in this thread to read your disagreement.

Sorry for ya!!

Totally agree with everything you said. In Forza I'd constantly try to put in faster lap times than my friends, but I'd feel it was a chore, rather than a joy. In GT5 I just want to drive. Some of the "original" tracks are just amazing to drive.

A wheel is pretty much a necessity for GT. Ive got a DF Pro, which I bought like 6 years ago, but I cant imagine playing GT with a pad. It feels so precise and much more enjoyable. I remember on GT4 (I think), one of the tests was in an 80s Le Mans car at Sarthe. Going along the straight the wheel would shake like crazy. Such an experience.

Now if only my desk wasnt falling apart, I could be a bit less delicate with the wheel!

I too am enjoying GT5. Like a few have said before it's fun to just drive. I used to be hardcore in GT3 and GT4 but I find myself very mellowed out in GT5. In the 5 year wait my interests shifted elsewhere (Call of Duty and Halo) so GT5 is just a relaxation thing for me now.

One thing I'm happy with is how playable the game is with a pad. I've played with a wheel since GT3, but now I find it too much of a chore. Since Tuesday I've been playing GT5 with the pad only. I think GTPSP trained me finally to love the pad. I've been winning and Golding races and events and enjoying it all. I broke our my DFpro last night and spent about 2 hours testing various cars on a custom track I made for testing and found it all I expected, the FF is vastly improved as is the overall feel from GT5P. However, as I said, after I set everything up (wheel stand, PS eye, etc) I was tired and my wife was not pleased as to how I "adapted" the living room (nor was I). So after those few hours of testing I packed the wheel up, put it in the closet, and went back to the nice new white DS3 I bought with the game and played until dawn (7 or so hours).

I'll break the wheel out for competitive events here on GTP that catch my eye but otherwise I'll be 100% pad when I need a break from the competitiveness of Call of Duty: Black Ops on the XBOX ( and PS3 too)...

I gotta say, I'm starting to warm up to the standards. Their flaws aside, its nice racing with some GT classics like the Cobra R stang.

I love the soundtrack!!!
It´s GT when you lose yourself in the car dealers for hours just looking at the cars. Its a big step in the right direction. So many nice things have been added to the series with part 5.

Loving it here as well. It has everything a GT should have and more... though it was expected for me to love it :D

This is what I tried to explain to my friends when they ask me what I think of GT compared to Forza.

GT gives you an all around "vibe" of motorsport and exotic car lifestyle that no other sim/racing title does.

For the most part, I'm very happy with this game. Got bored with it for a couple of hours, but hey! I'm lovin' it now!

(Couldn't find a good European Classic car. Finally purchased a Ferrari 512BB for 102,500cr.)
