a simple suggestion would be to have the ability to swap car rims around, but maybe to avoid licencing issues you're only able to swap rims between a certain manufacturer eg you could put the ferrari california rims on the 599 or vice versa.what do you guys think?

I used to do this in GT4, made the car look a lot better in most cases. It's also pretty common in real life. R34 wheels on an S15 for example.

Yes, because that's super realistic!......

If that's meant sarcastic I think you missed the mark as it is often done in real life and was possible to do in GT4 where you could buy regular wheels from different manufacturers in the 'used wheel' section in GT-Auto (can't remember the name right now).

But I don't think it's that simple since I suspect each car in GT5 which wheels can be changed is modelled beforehand with each possible wheel combination available, hence why there probably is such a limited range of aftermarket wheels (and because each wheel takes more time to model than the textures used in GT4) and why not all wheels are available for each car.

Once (or better, if) all aftermarket wheels become available for all Premium cars (apart from those whose wheels can't be changed) then perhaps this suggestion would be plausible.

In GT4 they had wheels from third party wheel companies like BBS and OZ racing. You could not buy Ford wheels for your Chevy.

Secondly, I will agree that in certain instances you can put wheels from one car onto another. However, it's often easier said than done.

For cars to accept a set of wheels the size has to be correct, the bolt pattern needs to be correct, the offset/backspacing needs to be correct, and you have to be sure they'll clear the brakes.

Swapping wheels from a Ford GT and a Corvette Z06 for example, is a VERY unrealistic proposition. So yea, while a Silvia and an R34 might accept identical wheels w/ identical tires - I highly doubt a Ferrari Enzo and a Ferrari 599 do.

Just make like it was on GT4. For standards plz, I'll be supa-happy.

And yeah, you could put Ford rims on a Chevy or a Merc rim on a Bimmer in GT4.

No problems with that.

Incorrect, yes they did have BBS, etc, but you could purchase rims from other cars for your own cars, I had a Lancer with Corvette rims on it if I recall..

Yes you could, I remember putting the wheels from a Ford GT on a Ford Ka and even used the wire wheels from the E-type Jag on a Toyota 2000GT for example.

Well I guess I overlooked that. We'll, that certainly is NOT realistic....

Not so unrealistic. As long as the bolt patterns and stud size/taper matches up, there is no reason you couldnt play musical rims between makes.

And, hell, even if the patterns DONT match up, there are companies that make adaptor plates to go between the factory studs and the rims you want to use.

There is much more to fitting rims than just the bolt pattern. Fitting Ford GT wheels to a Ka for example, would require that Ka to be completely tubbed.

Here in Australia there are companies who make slightly different aftermarket copies of the genuine holden/ford (most popular cars here) wheels in different sizes and they kids love em lol, I remember in GT4 I used to cycle the used wheels trying to find good sets xD. I'm sure the copies of wheels is not just an Australian thing? My own car is a 1990 v8 commodore stationwagon and I have 2004 monaro 18" copy wheels on it.

bring back the used wheels for standards at least!!

I don't care what they do, as long as they do it. My 64 Pontiac Tempest Lemans needs the Pro Touring look badly.

I've seen Porsche Cayenne wheels on a Volkswagen Bora before. The tyres were only about an Inch thick to fit into the wheelarches. But it shows that it is possible to fit almost any wheels on any car. I don't know why GT4's entire wheel shop couldn't be used, now we just get a random selection of wheels on premiums and none at all on standards.

It's not even about what goes on what in real life, if they are going to drown us with standard cars they need to let us change the wheels. Who cares what they have to do or how hard it is, we have been able to do it since the beginning and now we can't...wtf. The wheel selection for premiums is also repulsive and needs a serious overhaul.
