First, it took me 4 days to grind from level 29 to 30 to unlock this challenge to find out its impossible on ds3. i might as well just quit this game because i do not feel like spending money on a racing wheel. :scared:

Trust me best thing to do is just keep practicing and you will get bronze i was like "omg i cant do this its to hard" but if you practice you will learn where you can gain time.

I use the DS3 and managed bronze on Monza before someone gifted me one. I don't get much enjoyment out of it since it was given but 1 more day of grinding and I'll have one for lvl 35 B.

Chin up! If you really want to make it, you'll find a way. Sorry, you'll probably have to tune out the X1 clamor and the "I GOLDED ALL CHALLENGES" people...but if you really think that it is worth putting the time in, you can be one of them too.

All this talk about this challenge being impossible to gold with a DS3 is really making me dread doing this.

Don't know if possible or not. I use a G25 and tried it only for 20 minutes or so before I quit.

Personally, I think it's a joke to play. It may be "realistic" if Adrian Newey is involved but driving this thing is neither funny nor rewarding.

I will only give it a try again when everything else is complete/golded mostly because I am a completionist.

Don't give up man. Maybe give it a rest for a few days and then go back to it fresh. Although I've not got to that level yet, I'm under no illusions that it will be tough on teh DS3.

It's not impossible to get bronze with the controller, but gold on all would take, nerves, skill, luck and patience of the highest order.

As I use a wheel I found it great fun and rewarding especially after I managed gold on all events.

Have to say though I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't own a wheel. Despite the number of people playing GT5 with a wheel is 10% unfortunately owning a wheel is a massive advantage. This isn't just the case on the Vettel challenge but also online racing and the time trials. I was racing my friends last night and I was always around 2secs a lap faster. Now I have known these friends for 6yrs and all other racing games i.e Forza we have been extremely close to each other.

What PD should of done is take this into account and the required time for Gold on the Vettel challenge should of been adjusted for DS3 owners. Same with the time trials because we should have seperate leaderboards for wheel, DS3 owners.

Not exactly a walk in the park with a wheel either. I got the GP and suzuka silvers and a monza gold (shortcuts of course) but that gpf silver was a huge bitch! Took hours upon hours! Turn the skid recovery on for a bit more cornering power.

My fastest lap so far on Monza (after a flying lap) with the X1, using a DS3, is 1:05.xxx
Nowhere near good enough when I have to take at least 5 seconds off that. It's terrifying. :D

Ive bronzed all vettel challenges with my ds3. When i have the time im going to take my x1 to the suzuka 1000km to get some practise.

I find that with a ds3 you cannot go through some corners properly. For example, spoon curve at suzuka. To do this right you need to brake, turn in with full lock then ease off the sterring so that you can follow the outside edge of the track, then use full lock again to hit the second apex and then ease off the steering as the track doesnt quite straighten out as you accelerate down the straight. I find this nearly impossibly on my ds3 in a sports car let alone in the x1. I think i need a wheel to get the extra 2.5 seconds a lap that i need to gold it

enable anti-skid and you will manage it

I've reached bronze without it on my G25 but more than that i believe you can only manage with that help

Yea I just did the seasonal events 4 and they gave me lvl 30, trying to tame this beast on a ds3... well there's nothing like it, gave up to play online, will try it later

I did a test last night.
I took out my unused G27 that I've had since October just sitting there.
And the wheels turn faster with the wheel than with the controller even though the wheel is locked at 900 degrees turning angle.

ive tried so many combination of different driving aids. closest i got was 5 seconds from bronze on monza. thanks for all the input guys. i going to give this a few more tries before i just go and level up my bob to lvl35 just to get one.

with a DS3 i got bronze on monza in 15 mins. found it reasonable easy but then i tried suzuka . . . i cant even complete the two laps let alone do them in a fast time.:grumpy:

If you use the search function on this site you'll find a few threads about this and they'll show you that it's not impossible at all

I know the feeling.
I managed to get bronze on Monza after about 90 mins of trying. Moved on to the Nurburgring but don't seem to be able to get any closer than a 2"14.
I've had a couple of goes on Suzuka but haven't got any further than the degner curves on the first lap.
I can't seem to steer fast enough, or, accurately enough to get it and it feels like no amount of practice will change that.

lol i know this. i just made a thread so i could be able to post because im a new member. it was the only thing i could think to post about at the time. :dopey:

I tried, couldnt come within 10 seconds of bronze. Then someone gifted it to me. Its a POS and not worth the effort.

Bob finished enduros 20 laps ahead though.

Seasonal Events finally catapulted me to level 30 late last night. First two attempts at Nurb with the DS3 (traction-1 skid-off) I went off. Third try I backed out often just to get through clean. I finished 12 seconds off gold. These are going to be a bear. I have no shame in turning on skid to get these knocked out when I give them another go.
