I know many you will not care, but I had to post somewhere and seeing this community would be the only group of people that would appreciate this I felt it was appropriate. I have 3 roommates and I only got one of them into Gran Turismo recently.
Anyway, I got to level 30 exactly a week ago and dove right into the special challenge. The Nurburgring was tough but definitely doable. I think I beat that in about 2 days by about .2 seconds. Monza was definitely easiest. I reasoned that since there a significantly fewer turns than that other two events that means there are fewer places for you to screw up on. I had that one done in about 2 hours.
I decided to start tackling Suzuka on Wednesday. Since I was familiar with the car and track I had just above silver on my first attempt. I thought this was going to be a no brainer. I was so wrong. There are so many turns that when you screw up on one it devastates your time for the rest of the challenge. I was DQ'ed so many times. I became very frustrating. But I slowly inched my way into silver. Then well on my way to gold. My best moment came from getting 2:10.190 and I knew exactly where I had slowed down too much. My gold run immediately followed that one. I got so nervous that on the last chicane I braked way too early and thought I was down for on this attempt. I wasn't, I gassed just to see what my time was.
I got it on the dot. 2:10.000. I got up, high fived my roommates. I know it was cheesy but whatever. I have seriously never been so excited with a videogame. That feeling you get when you are like 20 ft behind Vettel on the last two turns is exhilarating. Thanks for listening. And btw, this was done with a DFGT and with all assists off.
