The online bookmaker 'PaddyPower' has taken time off from fleecing the misguided to arrange payouts on all the bets placed on Vettel's 2011 WDC bid.

It's clearly a silly publicity stunt and is reminiscent of the Fred Done chain paying out on Manchester-Utd-win-premier-league bets in [edit - 1998] with several games to go before the league's season finished.

Man U were eventually beaten by Arsenal.

It's likely that Vettel WILL win the WDC if current form is anything to go by, but of course it never is.

I remember seeing that yesterday, anyway Man Utd did not get beaten by Arsenal (4th by a long way in League). They won the League and Carling Cup, however they lost an FA Cup Semi-final to Everton so never won the domestic treble which Paddy Power paid out on.

Edit: I think you meant the 1998 season.

Reminds me of the Lewis Hamilton book that declared him champion and went to print before his rookie season was finished.

We all know how that turned out...

Did you know that he used to play as Kimi Raikkonen in an F1 game (Most likely F1 CE) back in 2007 because he was not in the game then. Funny that Kimi ended up winning the title instead of him.

I hadn't heard of that - what a work of genius :D

Haha yes! But there was more than one book guilty of getting published before the season finished.
