I have noticed that ALOT of time, effort, caring, love, and time go into making so many video's around here. From the bottom of the list up to the best drifters around, those of us that can put alot of time into editing our video's together, making them go with music, try and accurately portray our level of drift skill, etc etc. I was wondering, how many of you here really appreciate the effort we that make these video's go through to give them to you, or do you just watch them and go "Eh, whatever" and go on to the next vid?

Watching videos is cool nice to see new lines I mean just today you helped me out with a drift problem I was having .If I didn't see the video I wouldn't have ask the question. Also if the video has music thats even better hard rock or punk seems to work best IMO I don't care for rap or hip hop.

I think it's great that people take the time to make them, but I don't really even watch all the videos that are posted on here. I probably only download and watch 25% of the vids that are posted. It's just gotten so repetitive that every vid looks the same.

Just to give the vid makers my opinion on what I like in a vid-
-I love cool camera shots.
-I love editing that goes along with the music.
-I hate Initial D music in drift vids.
-I hate videos that show entire laps of a track. I watch enough of those when judging.
-I love when there's a large selection of cars and tracks in a video. (Watching people drift midfield and apricot hill in an AE86 or something over and over again isn't very much fun.)

That's all I can think of right now, but again...Thanks to all the vid creators.

-Mark

I agree with Ethix! Other things to add:
-Show the whole corner.
-Don't just show anything you pull off that seems cool, try to show well-executed drifts that follow the correct racing line. Drifts that don't just look cool, but that you are proud of and other drifters can appreciate.
-If possible, include the sound of the engine even when there's music, it helps beginners learn by example and betters the racing community.

What I do with my videos:

~Pick a GOOD song.
~Edit video to go in time with the music, including titles, credits, and other text, trying to keep everything as newish as possible
~try and do it with cars that arent over-used, on tracks that arent over-played
~Always inlcude the sound of the engine, and usually the gauges etc etc, however not on my latest vid cuz I wanted it to be more clean looking.
~Never include drifts that arent clean, controlled, and follow the proper line, and always try to include a whole link series when possible.
~Include some interesting camera angles as best as possible with the two choices you have in GT3

Yes well... I love it when good drifters make good vidoes... I hear about how good someone is supposedly but when I watch there vid's I think they suck... because screw how well you drift its also how well you present your skills as a drifter... and if you can't do it well, send some footage to someone that can... cause I have mad respect for the editors... more then the drifters, cause anyone can say they are good drifter... but how many can say they are good editors too... and prove it...

Oh, and I suck at editing and drifting...:D

You can prove either one. It's not like you can drift or you can't, no two people on the planet are at exactly the same skill level. The problem is that for drifting, you can only recognize skill up to your own level. If someone is above you, you might not necessarily realize it because you aren't paying attention to the right things. I have often thought I was better than someone, then come back later and watch the same video and realize at that time they were far better than me. For editing, however, it's very obvious who is better because the whole idea is to make something presentable to everyday people. To say that one deserves more respect than the other, do you not have a reason better than that?

well where can i start!!!!!!!..........
I care about how much time people put into thier vids.. Ok thats it leave me alone.Darn wheres the weeddrifter i mean silvia drifter when i need him.. i'm going crazy....And you wonder where all that smoke in his vids come from....:odd:

A good vid IMO comprises of decent drifting and good editing. To edit takes time and patience and is exactly that, that makes it even more special. The effords that you guys put into the vids are recognized because I'm sure we all know what it's like to get just the perfect lenght of video clip to synchronize with the beat...

Editting is the icing sugar on the cake which is drifting... gives it that extra sweet taste :)

I aimed for it, but I lost it. So I clicked eh they're cool and so on..

i like some and others i think are crap mostly rap and/or hip hop ones, but if the drifts overpower the crap music then i like em :)

lol.

I'm trying to make a video and I'm wondering: would you download a 5 minute video or a 3 minute video? Because I'm trying to decide on what song I should use and they're all long (~5-7 minutes).*

*The video size would probably like 10MB per minute.

To tell you the truth I hate your editing and music... but you have such a great style I can't help but like your stuff... So yes, in a way your drifting does overpower your crap music...

... BTW, I hope you don't take what I said the wrong way, its just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm assuming based off of my first video.

lol thats what i usually do ^^^^ but sometimes i edit them if they go into straights

I decided to get the Xport before I get the capture card... so I can make my Hybrid S13... I am not changing the engine, but you will see what I do... AND LOVE IT!!!

I'm usually left wishing the video was longer when it comes to drift vids, so I would easily download a 7minute movie of it was worth it.
