I think it's an NVIDIA GeForce2. What happened was I was playing the America's Army FPS game and my monitor went black. I couldn't get any picture at all. I plugged into i think it's an on board video plug and got a picture. I can't play any of my games though.

So my guess is that something in my video card got messed up. If there is anything I can do to fix it and not have to get a new card, please help me figure it out.

For reference here's the error when I try to start my America's Army game:
____________
Build AmericasArmy[BuildDate:03-15-07_BuildVersion:2.8.1]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1398 MHz with 1015MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce2 Integrated GPU (6693)

Error setting display mode: CreateDevice failed (D3DERR_OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY). Please delete your armyops.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine
____________

Please help if it's possible. I don't have any money so I definitely can't afford a new card let alone one that will work for the game.

D3DERR_OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY

I think this basically means your Videocard doesn't have enough memory to display all the textures (Which isn't surprising, the GF2 is almost 8 years old). Which means, sorry, new videocard (If it's possible).

Another thing you can try is maybe reinstalling Direct X.

Do you get any picture at all from the card giving you the problems with America's Army?

The game was released 5 years ago. So it shouldn't be having problems with running out of memory. Plus, its an integrated chip, so you wouldn't be able to replace the onboard graphics, you would just get a compatible AGP video card and go from there.
Another thing you can try is maybe reinstalling Direct X.

If you actually paid attention to what he wrote, you would have noticed that it the error is prefixed D3DERR. Therefore, the game does not run on Direct X but on Direct3D Sounds like a Direct3D problem to me. Try reinstalling/updating your graphics drivers at a minimum - since its all your games having that problem this should fix it. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling your game.

If all else fails, ask for a compatible graphics card for Christmas (if you can wait that long) or find a compatible one on Newegg.com. Since its ~4 years old, they shouldn't be any more than $20-$30.

Thanks for trying to help guys, I'll try what you are suggesting and see if it works. But i hope I don't have to get a new card. Right now I'm updating the driver on the card, the troubleshooter suggested I do that. Thanks again.

EDIT: And no I don't get a single bit of picture. The monitor just goes into standby when I plug it to the card slot. And another thing I just remembered, the plug I just switched to never worked before, is it an emergency plug? Or did my computer deactivate the video card by accident from some outside source (possible virus).

EDIT: Updating the driver didn't work.

Have you made ABSOLUTELY sure it's seated correct ?...

If you have - Dead Card, 100%...

Ok .. So you are currently your video off of your motherboard via the Integrated Graphics Processor - which is normally crap.

The part about that port not working before is strange, however it shouldn't really be of concern since it is working now. The only explanation I can come up with for that would be there was a system resource conflict between the two and since it seems your other card has died there is no longer a conflict, thus allowing the IGP to work.

Pull the old graphics card out of your computer and post up what type of card it is and I will try and find you a replacement card on the cheap. Its an old card so it shouldn't be any more than $30 to replace it.

Also, do what Flerbizky said. Proper seating hadn't even crossed my mind.

Nope, the card is officially pronounced dead. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Thanks for trying to help, I will be adding to every bodies reputation who posted here trying to help.

What type of card is it? If its as old as I think it is a GeForce2 should replace it with no problem. Was it in a white or a brown slot?

You can go ahead and just pull it out completely. Its dead.

You may wanna know what slot type you need... more than likely AGP if it's brown. PCI if it's white.

No less than a FX5 series from nVidia. Runs Bridge Crossing on my friends comp with all details on high at 50fps.

My 6200 running at 6600GT speeds does 80fps.

Well my graphics card was running the whole game at around 64 fps until it died. I'm just going to try to get the same type as the previous.
