Alright, I'm looking at upgrading my video card.
My current specs are:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHZ
Mobo: Gigabyte Technology 8IG1000MK
RAM: Single-channel 512mb Stick
Vid Card: ATi Radeon 9550 256mb (AGP)
120gb HDD
Etc etc.
The cards I'm looking at are BFG GeForce 7600GS OC 512mb AGP and the XpertVision GeForce 6800GS 512mb AGP.
There is $75 between them at my local computer store, GetRight (those links), but shopping around online reveals that the cards can be had for a better bargain.
At ComputerAlliance, they have the 7600GS for $269, plus $15 shipping, bringing it to close enough to $285, a saving of $15 from GetRight.
HBOutlet have the 6800GS at the low low cost of $276, plus $11 shipping, bringing it to $287, a huge saving of about $90 from GetRight.
The question is, which to get? The 7600 is a newer card on the 7-Series architecture, and comes overclocked right out of the box. It looks to be a great mid-high range card for the price. The 6800 seems to be a great bargain at HBOutlet, and out of stock at Getright at the moment. From what I hear it makes a good high-end video card (with GDDR3 memory), but its a generation old on the 6-Series architecture.
Any advice would be appreciated.
