HOLY CRAP!!! I heard that Jacques might be looking at NASCAR as a 2007 alternative to F1. I have no idea why, expecially because of the pay he demands in F1. I guess I might start watching NASCAR next year if he does.

It's a shame really, it seems like he is starting to get some real pace back now, I'd love to see what he could do with 1 more year in F1.

In NASCAR though could be interesting, him and Stewart crash = WW3.

Yeah, JV is really starting to get the pace going, he was faster than Alonso all weekend long, I guess that's saying something.

Well, his future is up to BMW (again). I hope he keeps his ride, he has been doing pretty well this season. It will be interesting to see what he and BMW have to offer next season (ugh, the final season before F1 completely changes character :indiff:).

Wherever he lands, it better be a competitive ride. The stock cars are a totally different animal of a race car. Jacques might have to relearn everything all over again.

Maybe red, but didn't Gordon also drive a F1 car and show he was a pretty fast guy too? I don't remember his time compared to the other driver though.

But I guess that doesn't mean he'll be as good in Nascar.

It would be better if he competed in le mans or something, in nascar he'll go nowhere. If he succeeds in le mans racing he'll go down as a legend.

Yeah, that Alonso's slow?

He'll have to go through Tom K. first before becoming a LeMans Legend.

Whose to say he won't go nowhere in Nascar? He'll def. gain fame with the US public, and his racing on the Indy circuit should give him some help in a Nascar. Hell, he can be like Stewart and race in the IRL series.

I believe that Jacques has raced with a roof over his head only twice - an Alfa touring car and a Toyota sports prototype. I thought he was single seater all the way?

not to mention his agressive style, oval racing may seem alot easier to the naked eye but it needs and amazing ability to be very smooth with lines to be succesful. I don't think hes the right type of driver

Although as an Indy 500 winner i should think ovals won't be totally alien to him ;)

yea, I was about to say. I was thinking to myself "apparently, nobody told these people Jacques is the 1995 CART champion and an Indy 500 winner." I'm not sure how the American public will accept Jacques if he does go to NASCAR. he would be the first F1 driver that I know of that raced in NASCAR after he raced in F1, so I am really interested to see how he does. there is a part of me that wants him to stay in F1, but the part that wants him to go to NASCAR knows that he will never be in a decent seat again in the forseeable future. I will still be a fan either way.

Good idea for JV, he was more successful in the US than he has been in F1, although he did win the title in '97 with a vastly superior car. I think Nascar, and American racing in general, suits this man better than F1. It is about bravery over there, while in Europe racing requires a lot more than just bravery. BMW will not stick with Jacques, he should focus on something else and this article shows this is exactly what he is doing.

I want to see how he does on the road courses. It wouldn't be bad if he went back to Champcar.

Christian Fittipaldi raced in F1 in the mid-90s and had a crack at NASCAR in the early 00s.

oh, I knew he did F1, but I thought after that he just went to Champ Car. I didn't know he went to NASCAR. besides, he's a good driver and all, but he's not quite up to his dad.
