Hi all, I figured I would bring up the prospect of racing the "vintage" low powered cars available in GT5. I have been a big fan of vintage racing for some time now, having seen the VARAC club race at Mosport International Raceway here in Ontario, Canada every year for the past 6 years. I was thinking this could translate in some way to some good racing on GT5.

So, this will likely start as an informal type of race. I would like to do this maybe once or twice a week, with multiple races. But, if we choose to, we could make this a little more competitive by implementing a point system on a 1 race per week basis, with practice in between.

The basic rules for the cars would be a production year of 79 or earlier, 130hp or less, min weight of 900kg, and max of sport soft tires. You may do whatever you want to get your car to this hp and weight restrictions. Any suspension goes, at least for informal races. formal races if we choose to go that route would have more restrictions on the cars.

To keep things from feeling too long and drawn out, races would be on the shorter courses of the game, such as suzuka east and autumn ring mini. Races would generally be 10-15 laps.

To give you an idea of the cars allowed, here is a short list:
-79 Honda Civic 3 door
-Volkswagen Golf 1 GTI
-Triumph Spitfire
-Nissan Bluebird (can't remember which years or models, will be based on power output)
-Honda S500, S600
-Mazda 110S
-Alfa Romeo Guilia (HP?)
-Ginetta G4 (HP?)

There isn't a huge selection, but enough to keep things interesting. So let me know your thoughts and we can go from there.

While I like the BMW 2002, I'm not looking for a one make race. Maybe I'm just in a small group of people not on these forums that is into this type of racing. Its purely for fun in most cases, showcasing the cars and their capabilities as compared to the drivers capability.
