im a newbie to this forum and this is my first pos! just wanna say hi and share my thoughts :) i was reading an article and it stated that Nintendo is releasing a virtual reality gadget that would be compatible with Revolution. It sounds cool but will it not make Revolution expensive, contrary to Nintendo's strategy of keeping the prices low?

I don't doubt they've made one, their innovations team probably got really drunk on sake one night and decided that creating a virtual reality suit was a great idea (i don't need sake to agree with them).

I also don't doubt it will be at E3. I can't see it being cheap though no. I don't reckon they are going to advertise it as a "must-have" addition to the Revolution, but it will be there if you have the money.

Interesting stuff.

You're thinking of this:

It's the Revolution's controller. It allows you to, say, swing it to hit the ball in a baseball game.

Here's a video on it:

Not gonna happen. I fully believe that we've already seen all there is to see about the Revolution except for the games. There are no more "big secrets", no "megaton", no industry-defining invention that they've yet to reveal... it's just a new console with a funky controller.

Has somebody seen the Nintendo On spoof teaser?

I wonder how much money a next-gen virtual boy would cost.

Because the last-gen Virtual Boy wasn't enough of a disaster. Personally I love innovation but I think it might be time for Nintendo to revert to the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) philosophy.

I don't really agree. I love the fact that they're trying something new and not just trying to make a stupidly powerful console like Sony and Microsoft.

I'm much more interested about the Revolution than the PS3 or Xbox 360 just due to wanting to know what cool stuff they're trying. The 360 has passed me by because it's just another console. The PS3 is more interesting but is essentially the same thing. The Revolution is the only console that's actually interesting, it's got so much potential.

I agree that the market in general is probably after a simple console that they can just pick up and use, and for that reason i don't think that Nintendo are going to sell a huge number or convert any Sony or Microsoft fans, but i'm glad they're really making an effort to advance what we consider gaming rather than just creating an endless flow of more powerful consoles.

As for the article, I don't know what to say. Seems bit doubtful, perhaps.
I like innovations too, but I think the new controllers are enough step forward for Nintendo, I think.

If that's "funky", then I guess I've always like that "funk" from Nintendo. When I was kid, NES/Famicom introduced me to the cross key/directional pad on a controller. On Super NES/Super Famicom, it was shoulder buttons. N64? Analog sticks. Unfortunately, only "funk" in the GameCube controllers were the button placements that sucked. I think Revolution controllers looks amazing(not the styling, obviously). I hope Nintendo can get it to work perfectly on many great games. It should be very cool on first person shooters.
