In the same way that the GT-R Official Record trophy works, i thought these challenges some days ago, racing against real times of real pilots with the same car available in the virtual world of GT5.

All the info was collected carefully to assure the best accuracy, with track name, best lap or fastest lap, car, pilot, year and, of course, time to beat. I apologize for any mistake and any observation is welcome.

Sincerely, i hope you enjoy them! (Or burn the thread! :dopey: )

Nice one! Im guessing the Top Gear Test track with the Lambo was most likely from a standing start? That should probably be noted. Besides that great list, there is some real fun to be had beating those:tup:

Good reference list....will be interesting for time-killing purpose just to push a car around the track with a target...At first glance I think the Spec V time and the IS-F time might be quite doable.

Interesting to note the GTR(non-Spec V) time is actually faster at 1:01.76
http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/tsukuba.html

And ARTA NSX ran 1.49.842 around Suzuka in 2008

Tire choice?

To begin, at your will, but it is necessary to simulate the real lap conditions with common sense and, as some info is not possible to obtain, choose logical possibilities, like in F1 hard or medium racing tires.

Standing start, of course, sorry my mistake

Thanks!

This has been beaten quite often, mainly because the NASCAR's in the game don't have restrictor plates so they go faster than their real life counterparts.

The Monaco one is wrong, the GT5 version uses the older layout, where the Swimming pool section is much tighter. Plus the chicane after the tunnel cannot be taken like in real life. =(

You're right, i updated the info for accurate players to ignore this.

Thanks!

At the swimming pool they moved the barriers back but left kerbs in place. So that should be just as fast, just safer IRL, but the chicane does look too tight.

I found this one. 51.8 around Tsukuba. Can anyone confirm which model this is. The 06 premium one?

I just tried it with the 03 standard with a different livery which seems a bit underpowered but I was getting 52.2s with racing hard tires so I think this is gonna be a tough challenge to beat

Ah, it's a shame about the Monaco one...
What year was the Monaco track in GT5 then?
Also, great thread, this will keep me busy in GT5 :D

I just had a go at the Nissan GTR around Tsukuba. Its was fairly easy to beat the target time. My best after 8 laps was 59.191 with the following settings:

Car: Nissan GTR 07 (arcade mode)
Tyres: Sport Hard (F and R)
Assists: Everything off
Grip reduction: Real

To be fair the real life driver was probably using ABS and possibly TCS when the time was set as well

You should use the '09 GTR

Someone pointed out that this lap:
"Nissan GT-R 1:01.76 121 '08 479 / 1740 Best Motoring"

That's the one i was trying the beat. The 09 V spec model is a quicker car, but a slower time was set in real life so it that would be too easy. Besides i didnt want to buy the better version as i dont have many credits atm

I had a go at Stiggys time of 1.19.0 on the Top Gear test track. I managed a 1.17.1 without any tuning or upgrades and from a standing start of course I use no assists and the Sport Hard tires it came with. Its quite a terrifying car around that track tbh

A stage 3 engine tunes gives the GT500 NSX around 515bhp which is a more realistic engine power than the official 470+bhp in GT5.

The same stage 3 engine tune is needed for all GT500 and GT300's if you want the real engine power rather than those quoted by the manufactuer.

Seriously? That would make sense. I cant see it being possible to run 1.49s on suzuka without the upgrade but I thought they had to be under 500hp hence the old GT500 name. Unless the 500 refers to power to weight ratio or something?

Very cool thread 👍

You've got the Lexus IS-F RM listed as running on the "Type V 24hr course". That's incorrect labeling. The Type V course is the 4hr course, and the 24hr course does not have Type V in the name.

They use restrictors, manufacturers quote under 500bhp and 300bhp respectively but have more power.

Likwise WRC's are quoted at 300bhp but have nearer 400bhp.

They don't most modern WRC cars have around 330bhp-340bhp. The GT500 cars in Super GT are all very close to the 500bhp limit though.
