What does everyone make of the new GT PS3 footage from Sony's press conference at E3? Its obviously very early footage of PD's experiments with PS3, looking in parts like its simply GT4 pumped into High Definition...

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/granturismo5/preview_6124989.html

One site mentioned 16 car races! Looks like 6 car races are over for good!
Also, the car models look like GT4 ones in hi-res so far, I'm expecting any future GT game to look far better than this...

Its still VERY exciting. The footage of many cars all pitting together with fully animated pit crews etc is amazing!

I'm sure you guys can find links to good quality versions of the video etc as the information gets spread around the 'net a bit more...

The fact PD is referring to this footage as "Vision Gran Turismo" makes me think its not GT5, but just an early mock-up of what GT5 might be like!

Looking forward to more info as it (hopefully) becomes available...
:) 👍

I was about to put this too...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4554025.stm

It mentions a 'new version' of Gran Turismo... would that be GT5, or GT4 online?

Nice find... pics look interesting... the only place I've seen more JGTC cars on the track at any one time were in franz's photoshop pics thread... will the dream come true?? ;)

Apologies about that Blackbird - this new info wasn't posted anywhere near the first page of GTPlanet's GT4 forum when I submitted the thread. I assumed there wasn't a thread yet if it wasn't on the first page, considering the new-ness of the info. My bad.

Edit: After seeing GT5 area
GTPlanet's web page design didn't let me know there even EXISTED a GT5 forum area, as it only shows GT2,3, Concept & 4 in the little tabs at the top of the page. Lo and behold a new GT5 area when clicking 'community' and getting the full list of forum areas.

All this is new to me. So I think this has been posted before. I see Vision Gran Turismo more as a concept of GT5. You know, it's more like GT Concept and GT4 Prologue were more like concepts of GT4. GT4P was more of a concept because it was a good look at GT4. Then in my very first thread I made in the GT4 forums, I predicted that a number of the cars in GT Concept would find their way into GT4's full version. The graphics look more polished and more exciting. Not to sound like a "fanboy," but if Vision Gran Turismo is any indication, I don't see how this game will overtake GT5 as the king of racing games. Almost as if GT4 couldn't have been bigger and better than any GT in the past.

From the screenshots GameSpot provided (as of 3:30 AM CDT; 5/17/05), I like the third picture. Normally, I'd probably see some cars zooming by on track while the pit guys do their thing in the pits. If this 16-car field thing comes true, this will be pretty exciting. In terms of cars on track, if 16 is the limit, it will come up short of TOCA Race Driver 2's 20 to a track, or even NASCAR's 43 car fields.

Do you know who will be the benefactor of this whole deal? Perhaps series like the JGTC/Autobacs Super GT Series. An Autobacs Super GT race features GT500 (Toyota Supra, Nissan 350Z (until the new Skyline finds its way to a track), Mugen/Dome NSX...) and GT300 (Toyota MR-S, Mazda RX-7, ASL Garaiya, etc). If more cars find their way into GT5, it would be interesting to have class winners. Imagine not being the Nissan R92CP winning race after race. Imagine using a Corvette C5R winning in class, even if in 5th overall- 2 laps down. I think if PD thinks this through, you can win in class. Then too, imagine how intense the Gran Turismo World Championship would be!

Sounds good. Looks good. Seems good. I see nothing bad.

There's more that should be made before adding more cars on the track , otherwise 15 "enemies" at the same time would only be 15 solid ghosts throwing you in the sand when cornering . Or 15 ways to bounce towards the other end of the bend.
External view of pit crew ! I thought this was a racing game , not a Media Player ....

Just watched 2 videos from E3...one mixed movie footage of Spiderman swinging through NewYork and saving a couple of kids from being run down by Gran Turismo cars (pretty cool) and the second was a 'replay' looking demo that is absolutely incredible. I counted 15 cars on track and the camera pulls back on a car pulling into a pits that is teeming with people. Looks real. To be honest, I never expected to see any PS3 GT footage at E3. If this is how GT will look on the PS3 then I'm pretty darn excited!

EDIT: I see this has been well covered in the 'other' thread.

A mod can delete this thread if they want - there's already a'plenty of stuff about the new E3 GT info in the GT5 section. So I direct everyone there instead.

It's figgin' GT4 on steroids!!!

This was deffinetly NOT GT5, more like to mention us that EVERYTHING as we knew it about GT is going to change!!!

Friggin' triple number of cars on one course is better than everything we can imagine!!
Then add to the mix the possibilitied with the PS3 hardware, and they will re-invent GT!!!
