For the past week I have been in Scotland, and I have to say, you European fellas are so lucky. I have seen 1990's Evos and WRX's all over the place. I have also seen some other cars that we don't get in the states, like compact bubble cars (every company has them), Civic and Accord Type-R's, MG's, Peugot's, Renault's, and Lotus'. It has been so cool to see all of these cars that I have driven in a game but never seen in person. But I guess there is the other side of the coin, as V8's are quite rare over here, so many a Scot have no clue what a throaty V8 exhaust note sounds like. But still, I am so amazed at the different types of cars over here... I have used as much film on sports cars as I have on castles and scenery, etc. But from what I have learned, it is a much bigger pain in the arse to own a car over here.... American be glad you don't have road tax, strenuous inspections, expensive petrol, and and all sorts of legislation that makes it difficult to own a car simply for driving pleasure.

The Evos and Scoobies are common as muck over here. To be honest I'm fed up seeing the typical young yob driving them. I hate the image, but know that they are excellent cars in terms of acceleration and handling.

In the U.K. we have always had the hot hatch brigade - Mk 1 golf, Peugeot 205 gti and Renault 5 turbo started it all off. And this has evolved in to their modern versions - R32 golf/ gti, 206 gti 180, Renault clio sport 2.0 16v and V6 ... Then there are the Seat Leon Cupra Rs and the Civic type Rs. The hot hatch is booming in Britain. As for the MG - I'll give that one a miss!

Finally, for V8s, well you're correct. There is a severe lack of abundance of these beasts (as you corretly noticed) because of our extortionate petrol prices. I've heard a couple of RS6 quattros warble but that's about it. You really need to get to a car show in Scotland to hear some true American thunder.

Welcome to Scotland s13squirrel 👍 Yeah, Imprezas etc are common as muck, to many of the baseball cap brigade driving them. I too would be pleased with a huge V8, sadly I'll just have to make do with my pitifull 2.0l Mazda 626, THAT ISN'T EVEN IN GT4!!!!!! :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

I live in a small town in the north of England, population of about 2000, and the police have two brand new Impreza WRX STI's , theres not even any crime.

Oh and we do get V8's the Vauxhall Monaro VXR has a tuned Corvette 6.0L V8  , and i think there on buy one get one for your mate from where i live.

and yes owning a car over here is a pain in the arse, but the reasons you said are only small, it's insurance thats the worst. I'm 18 and have been driving for a year, i drive a 1.2L Fiat punto and it cost's me £1500. I know people my age in the US with 300hp V8's insured for less than that. If my dad asked insurance company to insure him on 300hp V8 they would look at him as if he was insane.

You're right!
In 1995, Iwas driving a Ford Fiesta 1.8L diesel (7.5L/100kms,60HP) in France .
Boring car with no class... :indiff:
In 1996, I bought a Buick Riviera 1971 455 GS (25L/100kms!, 300HP) in Canada.
Huge real american car with almost 7.3 liters engine. Lot of torque, big and beautiful, super comfy and so easy to maintain and repair. :)

- It cost me the same amount for the gas than with the Fiesta, and insurance was less than half I paid for the Fiesta.
- And car taxes in America, let me laugh, that is a joke.
- No annual inspection, no inspections at all! only if you drive a piece of junk and the cops stop you, you have to do an inspection...
- You can even modify them (engine swap, supercharge, tuning, dropping, cutting the roof, etc) without all the administrative and law enforcement assles... :dopey:

North America is a heaven for car lovers! 👍 👍 👍

Now my GF and I are driving a 1990 Miata, a Chrysler Newport 1968 convertible (6.8L, 290HP) and a Mazda Protege5...
...everyday! :sly:
And I'm looking for a 1967 or 68 Mustang.

here in us slow drivers stay on fast lane of freeways/highways... i understand that is illegal in UK coz last time i went there even the porsche cannot stay on the fast lane forever....

Yea, slow drivers in the left (fast) lane is a big problem around where I live. You come up behind them and flash your lights, but they do nothing. When you eventually get around, they start flashing their brights as if you did something wrong. Stupid American drivers are the worst.
