vista/windows 7 game compatability

With the update of GTP not that long ago I cannot workout how to even search for threads. I apologize if this has been done before

I have recently purchased a Toshiba windows 8.1 laptop. I want to play GTA 4 but the platform suggests it only goes as high as windows 7. Is there a way around this? I figure with the ability to manipulate and procreate with modern day computers, there could be a way

GTA IV is a fun game, but the amount of DRM they put into it is abysmal.

Yes, GTA IV is one of those games that has the "Games For Windows" DRM. Steam apparently has no way to patch the master copy they have to remove the unsupported DRM. Do the steps above in that link and it should work for you in compatibility mode.
