Posting this to see if there would be any interest in a VLN style endurance series that would run the course of 4 or 5 races over a span of 8-10 weeks. (one race every two weeks) We'd use a combination of the Type V circuit and the 24hr circuit, and use the GP circuit for qualifying.

Here's the rundown:
  • 3 or 4 races; 1.5 hours distance; one race every 2 weeks
  • 1 race w/day night cycle to replicate Nurburgring 24hr; 2 hours distance
  • 4 individual classes - SP1, SP3, SP6, SP9
  • Depending on sign-ups, each class will get it's own room
  • If two classes can be combined to fill a room, they will be
  • Open car selection for each class (see below)
  • Points tallied and champion awarded at the end of the season
  • Prizes for individual race winners + season champion

How the 'pick your own car' stuff works:
  • Drivers are allowed to pick any street based car newer than 1995
  • Depending on which class you want to run in, some restrictions will apply
  • Each class has a "max time limit", a lap time set by me that caps how fast you can go
  • Any and all modifications are allowed, as long as you stay below that max time limit
  • Breaching of the time limit during a race results in penalties of up to 20 seconds.
  • Once your car is "tested and ready", you must put it on Share so I can test it
  • Once I test it as being "ready for competition" you are given the OK to race.

Class Structure: (subject to changes)
  • SP1 - 9:50.000 time limit - Sport Medium Tires
  • SP3 - 9:25.000 time limit - Sport Soft Tires
  • SP6 - 9:00.000 time limit - Racing Hard Tires
  • SP9 - 8:45.000 time limit - Racing Hard Tires
  • **Time limits are based off 24hr circuit**

Wardez said that too.

Honestly this is all from my head, I have no idea what the rules are for Dubai. I guess they're similar. :p

Yea they use maximum lap times to balance performance, well either way I like it haha.

One word, yes. Wait that's three...

I like to see these VLN series, but never seem to make the time. I'll be following this closely and hope for it to run. :)

Yea dates and times are often my issue as well, we will see hopefully I can run this.

If you guys have certain times you can run at, post them up and hopefully we can find a happy medium for everyone.

Umm most weeknights aren't good unless we can run around 11pm est. Saturday after 230 est would be good, I just run another series at 9pm so we would need to be done by then. Sunday could also work as long as we are done by 9. There is a higher chance work schedules me Sundays.

Also, a rules suggestion maybe allow 1 joker lap in the first hour of the race, aka 1 lap under the minimum, then anything over that, or in the last half hour of the race would carry a penalty.

The problem with doing that is that you have to watch everyone's laps in the replay. That takes up a lot of time.

So basically it's parity racing on a big track with an endurance scale? I'm interested.

But I have a few issues. With multiple classes, and possible wheel-to-wheel racing within classes, drivers can sometimes use the draft to go faster than they would normally be able to. If a driver has gone faster than normal because of the draft, are they supposed to slow down before the line to avoid penalty? Say a driver drafts and overtakes another car in the same class, should they be required to slow down and give up the place in order to avoid a crippling 20 second penalty?

Yes, it would be recommended they slow before the line, but as large as the track is I don't see them gaining much time.

Any other interest with this? I may get a full thread up sometime next week as it may gain more attention in the racing section instead of interest checks. Thought people would jump all over this with the ability to choose practically any car.

So far you have no idea on specs, do you?

I'd be interested, if Rolex didn't conflict. I'm their safety car. :dopey: Hard to miss being the guy who helps run the show by ensuring that cautions go smoothly.

But, given a few minor changes, it'd be cool.

Also, my ITCC ran (to start with) a "Spec Request" system. They told me the car, I drove it about for a few laps, until the specs and lap times matched with the ideal lap times.

You can check out the first preseason test and some other videos on my YT channel.

Car specs? Don't need them. Everything is completely open with no limitations. As long as the car isn't faster than the minimum time allowed for the class you are running in, you're good to go. 👍

I thought I would post in here so it doesn't get forgotten about. :p I really don't do many things( or even post much), but I do like to poke around and read things! This sounds really unique and interesting to me. I'd definitely be in.
