Yesterday when I was reading a book about motorsport, I was looking at a picture of the Formula 3000 cars at the Birmingham Superprix in 1987, and on one of the cars there was a Volkswagen badge on the tip of the nosecone, which must mean that the car is powered by a Volkswagen engine. However, I have been looking over the entry list for the Formula 3000 series that year, and I couldn't find any Volkswagen powered cars anywhere. Does anyone know were I can find the information I am looking for.

VW never had an F3000 engine. The car, or driver, must have been sponsored by VW.

EDIT: F3 cars in 1987 were primarily VW powered. Are you sure it wasn't one of them?

I think the Birmingham Superprix ran F3 cars, not F3000. Also TVR Tuscans and BTTC machines, but that's aside the point.

The Superprix was the F3000 race.

The Birmingham SuperPrix was a motor racing meeting held on a street circuit at the heart of Birmingham, England, from 1986 to 1990. Until 1990 the principal event was a round of the European Formula 3000 Championship, but support races included BTCC and Formula Ford 1600 rounds, as well as sports car racing.
