Volkswagen have revealed a four-door coupe that is expected to fit in the current line up above the Passat Saloon. The model has been designed to appeal to family buyers who want added style and praticality all in one car. At the front end of the car, the styling will be more similar to the VW Eos, while at the back the rising wasteline and the swooping bodywork are lunlike anything else in the range. The cabin also up's the stakes aswell with the high-qualtity materials and generous equipment levels. Engines will be shared with existing models in the VW stable, and entry-level versions will future the innovative turbo and supercharged 1.4-litre TSI from the Golf and Tiguan SUV. Diesel options will include the company's all new 2.0-litre common-rail oil-burner. Higher spec models will be available with the brands 4MOTION all-wheel-drive set up, and clever twin-clutch DSG gearboxes are also likely to feature. The sleek four-door coupe is scheduled to make it's debut sometime next year, possibly the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it will arive in British showrooms before the end of 2008.

I have posted an image of the Passat Coupe below:

expect that its a photoshop and therefore when its eventually released could look nothing like the CLS.

Going by the spyphotos I have seen the car looks very A6ish looking at the sideprofile.

I think it looks cool, but it seems rather phaton-ish.

It looks cool anyway...

Awww, so many VW-haters. It hurts my soul...

Anyway, I'm expecting good things for this car. I really do like the CLS, as I definitely think its one of the sexiest "sensible" cars out there, particularly with the 6.2L V8 under the hood. As VW will be offering this Passat as a "poor-man's CLS" I would assume that they'd pack a fair bit of luxury and performance into a pretty decent model already (as I recall, both versions of the Passat in the US are near or at the top of the class in overall performance).

Of course, I'd prefer this to call back the return of the Passat W8, but that won't happen... But then again, we've got a nearly 300 BHP VR6 made available, and when matched to the Haldex AWD system, it should work wonders as a high-performance (and high-style) model...

On the high rated Passat:

The Passat is one of the few non- Japanese models that CR actually recommends. :indiff:

Oh well. Off to bed! :D

Uh Huh, I think it looks really good. There is one thing about that photo though...

The Volkwagen clearytaken inspiration from the Mercedes CLS!

Exactly what i thought too. It looks to stretched though, unlike the CLS. The CLS looks like it was made from scratch, this looks like a stretched Passat (what its meant to be). It looks average IMO.

it looks like CLS and CLS is rubbish. there's nothing more awkward on the road than 4 door coupe.:yuck:

I would say the original 4 door coupe is the audi A6. Its lines are very sexy.

Anyway audi A7

Maybe I missed something but don't coupes typically only have two doors?

Ah ok, that's kind of stupid but whatever, car classification has always been a bit of a mystery to me.

Coupes always have two doors. Sedans are cars with 4 real doors, like everything pictures except the RX8. The Rex is still a coupe.
