Essentially a more visually appealing version of the Kübelwagen, the "Thing" (or the "Trekker" as it was called here in the UK) or Type 181 (The Type 182 is the RHD version) is powered by either a 1.4 or 1.5 litre rear mounted engine. Production of the Thing started in 1968 for military use, but the first civilian versions rolled out in 1980.

They look great when customised, and I'd certainly like a more visually appealing version of the Kübelwagen on GT...
 
My friend had one of these stock.
So I have endured a ride in a stock one. :scared:
