The Volvo Sport, also known as P1900, was an two-seat roadster of which 68 units was built between the Years 1956 and 1957 with a body in fiberglass built on a tubular-steel chassis and had tuned 1414cc engine from the PV444 with dual SU-carburetors that produced 70hp and was linked to an 3-speed manual gearbox. The man behind the idea of the Volvo Sport was Volvo's president and founder Assar Gabrielsson. His idea of an two seat sports car come up when he saw a Chevrolet Corvette on a tripp in USA. So he asked the american boatbuilder Glasspar in Santa Ana, California if they could build a similar car-body with their tools if Volvo stands for the chassis. They did some prototypes over there and later the production moved to Sweden.

The reason why it was called the P1900 is still unknown beacuse it has nothing to do with the engine like P1800 did and there is no other explanations about that.
