VRR 500 Mile Sweepstakes

Hello and welcome to the rebirth of VRR, this is a race league that has a long history on GTPlanet dating back to Gran Turismo 6 days at the least. We are here to bring an exciting event to you and the potential to immortalize your victory on our new trophy built just for events such as this. The plan for this event is to have a long lead up to allow competitors learn how to make their car better and then there will be a blend of Indy 500 bump time trial qualifying and Daytona 500 Duel races to determine the 16 car field for the 500 mile race.

The weather settings, technical specifications, and much more can be found in the rulebook pdf below. A quick overview of the important things you need: Nissan Silvia Gr4, A GTR engine swap, and the Ducktail type B wing from GT Auto gets you most of the way there.

A little about the trophy. When the idea of the event came up I was inspired to build the trophy because not far from the track just down the beach before the Daytona Beach races, there was land speed record racing. The fastest car to ever turn a wheel on that beach was Sir Malcolm Campbell's Bluebird. After much testing and tinkering with a goal of 300 mph (on sand!) his final run averaged 276 mph before he set off on his quest for 300 mph on the then new, but now infamous, Bonneville Salt Flats. We will not be hitting 276 mph in our racecars but we'll be nipping at its heels on race day and this felt like a fitting man and machine to honor when we do it.
