VW Beetle oddness

The oddest thing happened today. I decided to take on the FF professional race with a Beetle 2.0 on 'roids (someone said 400HP was possible?) So I purchased one in black, put everything on it, did all three stages of weight reduction and then went to do the first race. The car is sitting on the line and I have the throttle mashed, to get a few revs in before the green light goes on, and the darn thing hardly responds. As soon as the tach hit 2K RPMs or so, the engine revved normally.

Has anyone else had this happen? I decided to toss the little POS and do some research before commiting to a ride for the Pro FF series. It was darn odd.

P.S. Initial HP was 298. I was underwhemled.
 
I remember that issue being discussed here before, but I can't remember what causes the problem... I think it has something to do with the torque not being available until a certain RPM, and when you put all that stuff on it, the calibration goes off just far enough that it really disturbs the Beetle's forward progress. I'll search for it to see if I can turn up the explanation.
 
Turbo lag, ah its a wonderful thing. What you need to do is make 1st gear lower until you get decent results when taking off from a dead stop.
 
I had always thought that this was due to several causes :
a) the gearbox settings
b) a too light flywheel
c) a too sophisticated clutch
Perhaps a semi-racing flywheel and a twin plate clutch would help.
I have the same Beetle 2.0 and here are my gearbox settings (though this is my first car and I haven't driven it for years) :
1st : 2.950
2nd : 2.152
3rd : 1.647
4th : 1.315
5th : 1.095
6th : 0.952
Final : 4.240

Ignore everything you've read up until this point.

VW Beetle CUP car will push 400hp, not the 2.0.
VW Beetle 2.0 will not rev until 3krpm has been reached if you have fitted the Sports ROM - take that off and you'll regain the ability to rev, and get MORE power (amazingly). This is the only car in the game this weirdness affects.
 
For the pro FF use the Citroen Xara Rally Car. It is the fastest FF in the game.

Since I dropped the Suckttle 2.0, I decided to see if I could win the Clio race car from the SS 150 enduro. I won it but guess what color.

FRIKKEN PINK!

GT3 hates me.

The Clio race car is available in 8 colors : blue, silver, orange, yellow, black, red, pink and white. So you have 12.5% of chances to get any of these colors for your prize car (1/8). It means you have 1.56% of chances to get the same color twice in a row (1/64).
GT3 doesn't hate Taowulf, it hates you ;)

Skydiving is definitely not for you in that case...:D :D :D
