Man, the last hour has been an Auto News beehive!

Here's the follow up to VW's Concept C, the Volks Eos.

This was lifted off of VWVortex

Volkwagen's press release:
"
Wolfsburg, September 2005. IAA world premiere: Just 18 months after the concept C study made its much lauded debut at the Geneva Automobile Salon, Volkswagen now presents the series version of its new convertible coupe in the form of the Eos. This is the world's first four-seater car with a five-section CSC roof; the folding hard top combines the characteristics of a coupe, sliding and convertible roof. When closed, the CSC roof curves in an arc between the rear end and the windscreen, giving rise to an outstanding coupe roof which is both elegant and sporty. The roof's curve is elongated, the rear end muscular and the overall impression is one of high quality. Equally important: When the roof is open, the Eos also clearly shows that it has been specifically developed as a convertible coupe. The background to this is the short design of the windscreen frame thanks to the extensive roof curve, benefiting the vehicle's proportions and giving rise to a classic, autonomous convertible rather than a saloon which has been sliced open.

Available with 2.0T or 3.2LVR6. Check the Vortex for the full breakdwon.

I feel sorry ripping the pictures right from Vortex. If anyone's got beef with that, I'll take 'em down.

Ehh... don't particularly like it. I would rather have the A4 Cabrio, which is most likely the same under the skin.
Does anyone else see the resemblence to a Z4 taillight in the headlights?

I agree, but that's how they look like in the Europe market, Peugeot's 307CC etc. If you base a coupe/convertible on a sedan, the rear bonnet surface will never be eliminated. Plus side is trunk-room, and a large roof-window.

While the idea is nice, if a little unoriginal, it only emphasizes a little, tiny problem I have with all current Volkswagons and a couple Audis (circled in picture for clarity)

Now, I understand that Volkswagon is a sister company to Audi, but Audi's dumb horseshoe frontend looks way worse on VWs.

Looks quite nice, shame about the boring colour. Now that silver is the new red, I've grown to really like red cars

Can't say I'm a fan of it either.

Well considering that the Cabiro is the most popular car among gay men in America, I don't think this one will be much better. It looks way better then the Cabiro but I couldn't bring myself to drive a convertable Golf.

The article was in AutoWeek this week so they are making the car...its going to be unveiled in Frankfurt.

That car is fugly. The trunk looks longer than the hood. The VW/Audi group went very radical in a bad way, and even at that, VW got the short end of the stick.

Did you know sometime in the future a GTi version is coming out.

It looks slick and nice but has unfortunately lost some of the agressiveness from the concept. It'll probably sell good.

Yawn..... its a Golf convertable, its just like a Golf except it has no load space, has no rear leg room and is bound to have a 'saggier' chassis than the Golf.

I just don't see the point in convertable versions of hatchbacks. Hatchbacks are designed to be compact, practical cars. Taking away this practicality and replacing it with (in days gone by) a soft foldaway roof that, when raised, makes the car uglyer, noiser and less secure just does not compute. Modern 'folding hardtops' are better but still, if not more so, unpractical.

Why buy a much compromised convertable hatchback when you can just buy a proper opentop sports car instead? Whose actually impressed that you drive a Golf with no roof?

Like BlazinXtreme said, it will be bought by the bucket load by gay men and blonde women with sun glasses and too much make-up.

People, if you want a stylish, practical (well, as far as they go) and safe CC, look to Renault's Megane CC.

Or choose a career outside the hairdressing industry... sorry but someone had to say it ;)

Why is it that hairdressers love their drop-tops? - you would have thought that 'wind-in-their-hair' is the last thing they'd want!

 Maybe its an excuse to have their hair done again :sly:

What about the Suzuki Vitara?

Or Suzuki X90?

Or Suzuki Cappucino?

See a pattern anyone?
