The Scirocco has 1hp more, and is lighter, meaning it has more PP, so it's faster.

The Golf is a pig on straights while the Scirocco is the best damn FWD ever around corners.

At lower power levels, it looks like that. Maxed out on race softs and the result is likely the same as well... But maxed on sports softs the Golf will win on most tracks.

The Golf R has the Japanese Market specs. Notice how its steering wheel is on the right as well.

The Euro version has 270bhp. :)

Exactly. This is probably due to PD only having a JDM version to model.

I'm dissapointed with the Golf chosen being awd. The current golf is a guilty secret. It looks stunning, has independent suspension so chassis isn't obselete like it has been since the mk3, i've no experience of VW engines though. But being AWD it's not a hot hatch. 👎 shame.

I'd also like to add that the Scirocco is lower, the suspension feels stiffer and I can imagine the aerodynamics being better as well.

I'd like to think that it has to do with the weight, the Scirocco is 1 fat man less than the golf and it matters

Well, last night I gave both a cruise on SS7 and I found the Scirocco to be definitely faster on straight line. Also, the engine on it is quite a revvy little bastard!!! Don't pay attention to the tach, but to the engine noise and you'll see that you can actually shift at 1000Rpm beyond the graphic redline!

The Scirocco R is the better performer in some aspects such as acceleration but the 4wd in the golf R would probably outmatch it overall.

Both my fully broken in Golf R's and Scirocco R's have the exact same amount of horsepower which isn't surprising since they both use the same engine.

Doesn't the Scirocco have a wider rear axle?

I was really impressed when I first tried it on Eiger.

I do notice that while the Golf is fantastic to drive (and on street tires mind you), the Scirocco feels that bit sharper and that little bit better.
