We have a few teams that are under strength:

GTPortugal - known from the start to be short by several drivers.
GTN - are down to 8 drivers by attrition of AWOL.

The Rules allow for the possibility of individual drivers running more than one Round in under-strength teams, provided a waiver is agreed on in advance by the team managers. This avoids DNS entries and helps the overall competition flow better.

So I'm assuming GTPortugal and GTN are requesting waivers. Are there any other teams that need a waiver because they lack 10 drivers? Let's get the waivers granted, or denied, as the case may be.

Where do you draw the line? From a personal point of view (not as a Team TT member) i am sort of dissapointed at letting teams with less than the full quota run drivers more than once. It may be that 10 driver slots is too many? 6-8 for future BC's? Food for thought i guess.

I'm keen to see as many forums participate in the big BC events as possible, but being able to field a full team should be one of the major requirements of entering such an event. I realise that with real life certain things can conspire to force driver pull outs and i must admit that the 'waiver' rule is good in this instance.

Just my personal view, and not that of my team.

.

Well, it's not a question of being forced out, and GTPortugal has already said they're really only running this to get their feet wet in BC competition. They're not expecting to be competitive.

So the question is, do teams get DNS for rounds with no driver, or can they double up a few?

I'm sounding like an arsehole i know. Better go and have a cold brew.

Always good to have new sections of the GT community racing and i've always tried to encourage it. I'd be interested to hear what other guys think about the DNS or double up option.

For future BC's though, i'd personally like to see definate rules for team numbers. Probably a reduction of driver seats from 10 to 6-8 to allow smaller forums to field and entire team and letting larger forums pick thier cream drivers for a race seat (larger forums allowed to field an 'A' and 'B' side)?

Ah, i'm rambling again. I guess what i'm trying to say is that while i'm not a big fan of allowing drivers to double up, i understand the need to encourage more forums (even small ones) into the BC fold and also allow unforseen circumstances to be handled without the major penalty of a DNS (ala ther GTN guys).

But these are my personal views and not the thoughts of our TT team.

I'm personally against waivers where one driver is allowed to collect points in more than one race. The racing as it is has been very flexible right now with last minute changes allowed to the team well past the deadline and not having to state which driver (including alternate) does which race.

I don't mind understaffed teams taking part, but in my opinion they will just have to accept DNFs for the races for which they cannot provide a unique driver.

In the case of GTPortugal, I don't think they have a big problem. In the case of GTN, it looks bad although I think that if they try they may well still be able to come up with a spare driver at the last minute. Should they win using some of their drivers twice, I can't imagine it would feel like a true win anyway, and knowing the people on the team, I honestly have a hard time believing they actually ask for something like this.

But perhaps GTPortugal can work something out with GTN, and the two teams could merge temporarily. That way, not only team GTPortugal will get their feet wet, but they'll be able to learn from one of the best teams out there.

(So good in fact that I think GTN could still win with only 8 drivers and two certain DNFs, in my opinion, but of course it will be harder for them. )

I'm against drivers running multiple rounds as well. If a team is committed to having 10 drivers submit 10 races, there's no reason it should be impossible (even though that happened to Team Numbers last year). I'd bet there are at least a hundred GT4 drivers altogether on the various participating boards who'd give their left one to drive in a BC. I thought that's one reason why we (Captains and Admin) were being flexible about allowing late roster changes.

RE: Making teams smaller for future BC's... Personally I don't think "more teams with smaller rosters" is neccesarily better than "a smaller number of full 10-12 member teams." You'd end up splitting up some teams that have been together through a few of these and several boards would have more than one team. Smaller boards can easily join forces to field a full roster - I believe NoQuarter did that for GTX and HGT this year.

I say cut off points by half if a driver drives two races, but only for this driver's second race. You know what I mean?

First race : no penalty
Second race : Half points
Third race : One third?

Allowing drivers to run more than one race could be seen as allowing just the best 5 (say) drivers to run the 10 races, resulting in better finishing positions than if the full spectrum of drivers and their skills were used. So some discouragement of that situation seems called for.

I agree with mistral...but...no third race...that'd be too much...
those drivers who run twice should advice Duke by mail/PM informing, to wich is their first and second race...and for their second race theor points should be half

Thanks for nothing-forget i asked..

That is why I proposed a penalty system if a driver do 2 races. Half point!

Hi

Im GT4Portugal Captain.

Since the beginning we said that we could have trouble reaching 10 members. Currently we are about to maybe raise the number to 7 players but its not a certain possibility. In Portugal is not very ussual to use devices such as AR-MAX ou X-Port...

How do you know that we are just 5 or 6 ? We could be saying that we were 10 and be using fake drivers. We are playing straight. We really want a "Waiver". Each pilot runs 2 races. If the majority dissagrees we accept but remember the issue that we are playing straight in the player number.

PS - GTPortugal is competitive :) Wait for the results.

I don't have a problem with GT Portugal because they made they're problems known before the racing started. GTN telling us 6 days after the racing has started that you're short of racers is a little too much imo. I say half points at most would be fair.

Maalcari
I thing Admins should make some kind of poll.

Seriously, why don't GTPortugal and GTN work together on this? If GTPortugal has 5 drivers, that adds up to 13, which is just one more than a full team.

I dont agree with that. If accepted we will run twice each one of us.Otherwise we will run just once...

A "fusion" is not acceptable for us. We are playing straight with the numbers and i think we deserve this.

We accept what will be decided here.

okay okay, it was just a suggestion ... never mind.

Sorry. I seemed angry or something. Wrong ideia :)

Holand ? Ronald Koeman Allez :)

When i asked about this is when i sent you the PM i had 8 active members and 4 lost in cyberspace somewhere. One of those lost drivers showed up today ready to run so i feel alot better about were we are tonight.Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

This happens every year to #'s, and it never fails to worry the Cap'n. :) Every time eggcept once the drivers showed up.

Yeah and for the guy who wasnt planning to race i sure have been doing alot of it.

While I like the idea of half points for the second races, it would just make scoring miserable for me. I just can't deal with it at this time.

I would have to say the consensus is fairly solidly against allowing people to run twice. So I'll have to say that is not going to be allowable either. If GTPortugal wants to submit second Rounds for any of their drivers, I'll publish the times as exhibition runs, but they will still get a DNS for scoring purposes.

Sorry; it's just really too late at this time.

Sounds fair to me Duke. It gives the Portugal team the experience of a BC, and next time out i'm sure they will rustle up the required numbers. Including the times without points for the second race is a hard call, but fair at this time methinks. Having half points is something to consider if something like this comes up again in the future.

And as for the super quick GTN team, i'm sure there are lots of drivers who would jump at the chance to fill a seat for them. Good luck getting the roster sorted and then you blokes can really show your stuff on the track!

For me there is no problem.
we will do what we have to do.
one race for driver , to me and my team that's ok, rules are rules.
thankyou for the time.
good luck for you all

1 Driver 1 Race.

No problem.

See you @ track. Good luck for all.

Good luck to you guys! Let's hope for good finishes this years and for 10 drivers for GTPortugal next year.

ditto 👍

1 member of GT4Portugal bought AR-Max :) One more player is available and we maybe one more to go too. AR-Max is very dificult to buy @ Portugal.

As Duke said to me. Im updating the drivers rooster in team signup topic.

TomaHawk is the new GTPT | Team Driver
