I had a discussion on a chatroom. Wallbash, wallride & grasscut is a skill.
I believe saying a person who use those trick is a cheater is just an excuse to hide that you suck.

An effective wallride, wallbash or a grasscut, cannot be reached with a normal race line. For me, racing is using whatever you see to get the fastest time. You do not make rule, physic is the rule by itself, use it.

To be able to use it effectively, you need to be in full confidence with what you are riding. If not, it cannot be made.

If you never get the idea to actually use those to get the fastest time, it mean that you're just lacking skill & according to my racing theory.

It's hard to have an argument with someone who speaks poor english.

No matter how many times we tell you Deap you just will not listen, wall riding/grass cutting sure it may give you a good time but people will laugh at you and call you silly names because you haven't got the slightest clue when it comes to proper effective racing lines.

Sure, you might have some faster lap times but try cutting corners and wall riding in real life, it's a shame GT doesnt have effective damage simulation or you would be singing a different tune.

We're in the general gaming.

The point is not whether it is unskilled or not. The point is is it cheating or not?

Yes, there is skill to hit the same bit of the same wall to get your lap time, but it is cheating.

What did that video demonstrate anyway? You didn't beat the guy that hit the walls, and then you went on to show how great you are by beating an anonymous guy in the same car as you that quit. Your laptime was over a minute. What are all the other guys in the 58 second range doing? Are they hitting walls or not?

In the video where the guy bounce the wall is #1 worldwide for that track in that class. There's over 3000 entry for sure. If I remember well the user who made the fastest lap is a kid.

I guess they all do. I didn't check all of them. Bouncing the wall in PGR3 is not easy. It is fun to watch players flying from you even if you beat 90%+ of community. For me, racing line is not enough extreme & I want to figure some new trick around the track to go faster. The bounce in the lap of TTRBboyle are very intuitive & obtain greater speed around the corner with the possibilty he though to get the fastest lap. It doesn't change the fact that he is better than me. :sly:

EDIT:
Public Poll added.

Caution, your vote is shown to public. :sly:

Enjoy your suspension and body damage.

Also, insults, server bans and laughter.

lets see you do this in games like GTR and GT Legends. You simply cannot wallride, cut track, and wallbash because you will damage your car and get penatly's for cutting tracks.

As for GT4 and such, i think its cheating. Plus 9/10 of the people who do this are not that fast or skilled.

I must say in GTL we push the limits for cut tracks, and if the game doesnt give us a cut track we use it. On a few tracks this is pushing it quite thin but in genearal its not really that bad.

i realy dont know much about the 'realism' of the other games mentioned but as far as the gran turismo series is concerned, what is the point of wall riding etc... in a series popular for its realism?

You can use wall to gain speed in GT4 & even GT3. :)

and it's still CHEATING!

That's a TA demonstration. It's already hard to use the wallride & wallbash to perfect the lap. The only consequence is a huge beating. Racing is an art of how to go as fast as possible on the track. As long as it stay in the game rule, it's not cheating.

But if you're racing online and people say that wall riding isn't allowed, then surely you're cheating?

If you compete in time-comparison race, and wallriding isn't allowed, you are cheating.

If the general consenses of everyone around you is that wallriding is not allowed, I think it's safe to assume, that wall riding is... cheating.

what part of "using wallbashing to gain advantage is considered cheating" did you not understand? I'd gladly repeat it to you. :)

i know this is completley off topic but... i just watched the shining, and thought "redrum" would be a interesting, original name thingie. guess you beat me too it :)

to the other guy, wall riding may not be a capital offence, but its still weak. obviously there is some degree in skill needed to hit the walls in the correct way, i'm sure we've all tried it at one stage, but i cant imagine too many people that will consider it racing. personaly, i think its cheating but if you enjoy it and are good at it, i'm glad your having fun, assuming everyone else is going to feel the same way about it is a big mistake though.

Yeah, I actually wanted the nick to be exactly like the kid (Danny is it?) writes it in the movie, but I couldn't find a reverse capital D, and one of the Rs was correctly written, but it looked too much like REBRUM... I'll keep it like this for a while longer, though. So if you still want the name you could go premium and change it in a couple of weeks or so :)

rather simple i think, sure you can hit a wall and go faster and as you say it takes a fair bit of skill to achieve a fast lap like this. But personally i think the greater skill is to push the car to its limits by realistically negotiating the track like a real life racer driver would. Therefore i think it is more skillful if a driver can go faster without wall riding, which personally i think is cheating.

trust me, i do A LOT of grass cutting and wallriding, pretty much whenever i can, i don't do much racing in any game without wall riding or grass cutting

thats why i love live for speed, because in LFS you need real skill to drive fast.👍

gran turismo or pgr are just arcade games. ;)
