Anyone know anything about this? I was playing it in the arcade today and the guy I was racing said that it was coming out for Xbox in February and will be Xbox Live ready. Does anyone have any information on this?

There is an arcade game called Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune at Parma Mall in Ohio and that game is the best out yet. The game you speak of is the first version and Max Tune is the newest version. If either of these games come to XBOX or PS2 or anything I will definetly buy them both. I give them 2 👍 👍

It's a real shame that the arcade game blows ass.

What a bad steering feel, and a bad car setup system (Everything gets the same power?)

Our Wagan Midnight died. I guess it overheated.

It wasn't like anyone was playing it...

(It's all about DDR *****!)

My brother sent a bunch of stuff to me when he went to Japan. One item was a Japanese magazine filled with pictures of models and manga. I've never seen anything like it! It's a good combination :dopey:
Anyway, one of the manga's featured in the magazine was *Japanese characters* MIDNIGHT. So I guess it must be Wangan Midnight. It had a 300ZX with a GT wing speeding and drifting on a freeway. There was a 240Z as well somewhere. Even though I cant read Japanese it looked pretty good.

Wangan Maximum Tune is better graphics then Initial D ver 3 hands down. The music is way better too. Maybe cuz im a trance freak. But anyways does anyone know the class rankings for the cars? I drive a Toyota Supra RZ and im a S Class moving up to The Red Omega. Not bragging or anything. People who beat it once need to beat it 2 more times. = )

I have Wangan Midnight for PS2 (japanese) and I also played the sequel in the Arcade in Tokyo last year... I hope that it comes to any console... I try to find out if that is correct...

Edit : Couldn't find anything so far.... Not listed on Play-asia... guess we will hav eto wait until the end of the year or so...

Driftster
Isn't Wangan Midnight nothing but Tokyo Xtreme Racer with a story?

Integra Type R
It's Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero with a "storyline," less cars, and the cars are lisenced.

I'd say basically... the steering is a little different, it's a little more Arcade than TXR if I remember it correctly ( havn't played it for a while ), and it was a bit more shiny (colors etc), great game, but too short...

No.

There are 2 versions people. Sorry but I am a big fan of this game and yea so ill set it straight

Wangan Midnight is a Ps2 (Japanese) and Arcade Game (Japanese and America far as I know) which basically is Tokyo Extreme Racer.

Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune, is arcade only (Ive never seen or heard of any console copies) and it isnt tokyo extreme racer

The game basically is set on the same streets as Tokyo with more of a faster feel. The reason all the cars are similar is because.. well cmon its an arcade game. The Arcade game has little cards u buy the first time u play that saves your status, theres a ton of races to complete. At the end of the game you basically are at a standstill of 700 HP max I think, but you get to tune your car for either more speed, or more handling. The game is based on city street racing with 4WD cars, some not though.

This game hits the nail on the head , i think its the best "underground hookup car scene" racing game Ive ever played. It does everything youd want it to in a "need for speed underground" style game, with enough racing to still have fun.

The game isnt based on the best lines or etc, its mostly about shifting gears and going down straight ways, one game round is like, i cant remmebr, but an ave of like 5km? or something to that effect, its a long race, and mostly one on one.

I really wish theyd bring it to PS2, even if it is a Japanese version, id still buy it.

-EDIT-

It by far has the BEST soundtrack in any racing game EVER. even the earlier Namco racers like ridge racer (huge fan of that soundtrack in its early games too). The soundtrack is so awsome people buy the soundtrack seperate even tho it costs 30 bucks now and it isnt even a console game.

Oh, and itll never be on xbox, u see any other namco games on xbox?
