If you haven't already, I highly recommend you to backup your gamesaves.

I started up Shift 2 (PS3) earlier expecting everything to be fine, but instead of the main menu and all of my correct details I was greeted with the EA account information that you get at the start of the game, my driver level has also been reset to 1 and I have lost everything. Just to clarify, I haven't turned off the system during a save, it's just overwritten the file without permission.

There's a guy using the XB360 on the NFS Support and Bug Report forums who has also experienced this issue. Hopefully this wont happened to any of you.

As if the other problems weren't enough....

If it's like GT5: First insert memory stick, then load up the PS3's UMB menu. Under 'Game' you will see a folder titled 'Saved Data Utility (PS3)', in it will be all your save files. Select the file you want to back up, hit the triangle button and copy to the memory stick.

Right i got it :) but thats profile "game settings and user-specific information" is that the actual game save?

I would assume so, but can't bring myself to turn off the game long enough to check for ya. Sorry.

Thank you for warring !!! 👍

No problem guys!

It's also been reported by some PC users now... 👎

The saved game on PS3 IS copy protected. You can only back it up if you are the Plus subscriber, as then you can copy it to the online storage. I know for sure because that's what I'm doing. It doesn't even offer me to copy to the USB stick as with other games.

Do you reside outside of the US? I only ask, because a lot of people are under the impression that you can't copy the save game to a flash drive, even though I just did yesterday with no hassle. I didn't take note of the regions of which the people who say you can't, but the only logical explanation in my mind is that different region codes copy protect the save game files. In any case, I was able to do it.

I'm in the UK and NOT a plus susbcriber and I have been able to back up the save file to USB stick.

On a related point: I don't seem to be recieving money when I level up (others have reported this). Do people think that if I delete the save file and restart from level 1 my online pass will still work, my Autolog times remain, and the limited edition cars be available for zero credits in the dealership?

Cheers.

I think your pass is tied to your PSN, seeing as though you redeemed it through PSN. I could be wrong, though.

As for the Autolog times, I think that's through your EA account. Maybe not. I don't really know.

That's reason number two why I backed up where I did (when I unlocked GT3). So I won't be too far off when I stop receiving bonus cash for leveling.

I have to correct myself. The saves for Shift2 are NOT copy protected. I simply forgot to insert the flash drive :D

I think i may have just had this happen to me.

My game wouldn't load before a race,it was stuck on the same loading screen for over 5 minutes.I figured it would be ok to just quit out and restart the game since i've done it before no problem.

Now when the game starts all i have is the options and career icons on the menu.It still says i'm at 66%,but when i press x for the career it takes me to the very first race with the Skyline.I'm going to go ahead and do the race again and see what happens.

I did back up my save, but i have yet to see where i would re-load it.Also i checked my settings and i have lost none of my settings for my wheel or options.

I'm hoping i didn't lose anything,i'll let you guys know if i did or not.

As somber a topic as this thread may be, the title gives me a laugh every time I see it.

8 gigabyte memory sticks only cost $10 nowadays. Get one. You won't regret it.

Man this is crazy.

The only thing it seems i have lost is my Driver level. It is back to being 0.I still have all my cars and all my progress. The only bad thing is i have to get back up to level 20 to proceed at where i was last when all this happened.(I was doing the works races at the time)

Looks like i found another bug

Nevermind.:ouch:

Looks as though it's all messed up.My driver level went back to 20,but the only races available are the Modern D races and the DLC that came with the game.

This is pretty frustrating as i don't want to have to start over.I'm going to look online to see if there is a fix to this.
