Mr. Bad Example succumbed to a year-long bout with lung cancer on Monday, at the age of 56. He was diagnosed as terminal earlier this year, and spent most of the summer recording and finishing as much of his unfinished music as possible.
It's been a while since he was on the charts, but he was an excellent songwriter and musician. He wrote the classics Werewolves Of London, Excitable Boy, Roland The Thompson Gunner, and Send Lawyers, Guns, and Money, among many others over a long career. He will be missed.
