I'm trying to replace the water pump in my 5.0 '83 Mercury Capri but the bolts that hold it in place won't budge no matter what I do. I've tried (carefully) tapping them with a hammer, spraying a bit of WD-40 on them and using every last bit of strength I had but they didn't even budge at all. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get them off? This is the last obstacle in my way before I can finally get the thing off. I can post pics if needed.
There is some tools out there that will remove the bolts. I had the same issue with my 86 volvo. Cwnt remember the name but therr are some tools. Try going down to your local hardware store and ask one of the employes for help. If that fails, google it.

You could also try turning it to tighten it more after applying heat it might break loose that way. Also be careful applying any heat to it if you have sprayed it with lots of WD40 as it will flare up, be ready for this. Liquid wrench might help also,it's kinda like WD40. When you replace water pump be sure to use some anti-seize lub on bolts.
Anyone have any ideas as to how to get them off? This is the last obstacle in my way before I can finally get the thing off. I can post pics if needed.
