Well we all know about having to re-strengthen the chassi from time to time with our favourite (or most used) cars...

but do you also have to do some engine tuning?

i have a favorite... the mercedes SL65 AMG tuned to 900+HP... i just went in to get some qualifying tires to get qualifying runs, and noticed that i didnt have the engine tune-ups (you know, port polish and that...)
i also was due for a re-strengthening of the chassi...

but the thing is, i know that i bought those engine tune-ups when i tuned the car the first time... so the question is... do you have to tune-up the engine from time to time?

or is it possible that i am just wrong about having done those tune-ups (wich i do to EVERY car i buy, by the way)

has anyone else experienced this? (and maby just written it off as having a bad memory or a case of senility?)

only thing I can think of is that you bought it but somehow didn't equip it when it asked you, or you just didn't purchase them. Go into the car settings file in the race menu, and see if they have it as a choice under those listings. Hope this helps. If its not that, then I don't know what the heck's wrong.

well im not saying somethings wrong... im just wondering if its a feature or if im getting senile in my grand old age of 28...

ive been trying to check if it has happened to any other car i own... but i havent driven any car as far as i have this one (i used it for all enduranceraces that required sports tires, and most of the other races you couldnt use the F1 car...)
and the ones ive driven far enough to warrant a body checkup have been cars you cannot upgrade the engine...

I'm pretty sure if you purchase port polish, displacement, and I can't remember the third one, they are automatically 'equipped'. You can save it to put on later....

port polish and displacement cannot be unequipped... thats why i was so surprised...

also i dont think people go into the engine tuneup part after they have tuned their fav car and played with it for a long time... so maby people just dont know about this?

In GT3 if you got a port polish or engine balance on a new car you only got a very small increase in power for the money spent. These "upgrades" were intended for old cars that had started to loose hp and would boost thepower back to its original levels (plus a bit?). I think you could only ever use them once in GT3?

It sounds as if in GT4 you can keep recycling these mods forever 👍 It will be interesting to see what a car with 1,000,000 km (miles for you poor metrically challenged seppos :) ) runs like!

hmm... interesting...
have to check this out

How do you tell when you have to re-strengthen the chassis? Is there an indicator or do you just re-strengthen it every so often?

you just strengthen it every like 1000kms or so..

If the option is available then the car needs it, you just have to re-check every now and then. but to be honest you should be able to tell because the car will feel a bit unsteady at speed.

Thanks for the info guys 👍
I also didn't know about only using the port polish and engine balance when the engine's worn down. So thanks for that info too!

its not a fact yet... i was hoping that some people would check this to make sure im not just seeing things...
it might be that this happens more rarely than the chassy thing... like every 2000km or so?

i still dont have any car that has done that except the f1 and that cant be checked...
