After searching, I still havn't been able to find an answer to my weather question. Until I recieved Prima's official strategy guide as a b-day present, I hadn't even thought much about different types of weather. On the top right corners in the guide, on the pages listing individual track info, it has the different weather and time options available for each track. Day, night, dry, wet etc. Looking around in the game, and playing it I have not been able to verify those different settings listed in the book for the tracks. Just trying to figure out how to change the settting, if that is possible? Or is the book just on crack? Thanks...Sorry if this has been discussed before, if it is, I guess my search skillz suck. :)

I 100% sure that you can't change the weather conditions. maybe for gt5 ?
I guessing the guide is stating what the weather conditions are for that track in that race (and they do not change)

for example special stage 5 (clubman ) whatever its called is 'always' a night race.

hope that this answers the question

hopefully you can change weather and time in GT5  imagine Nurburgring in the wet!! :scared:

I could, lol, but I don't want too. Instead of runnin 6 minute times, we'd be doin 12's, with an extra load in our pants by the end of the race. :scared:

that would pretty much rule, and of course have day to night change, just think flying round that track and all have all the cars putting there headlights on !!

now that would be nice, Nurburgring dark and raining

Looks to me as the guide is wrong. I can't find anything in the game which allows me to change weather or daytime....unfortunately...just imagine....guess deadboy 1975 is right with his statement

You can't change the weather folks. The guide is telling you want the ambient conditions at each track are.

yeah the ring would be good, BUT!, and a very BIG BUT, you would most certainly have to have a main beam button can u imagine driving round the ring in the pitch dark with only diped beam on your headlights lol hhmmm maybe not !

Nurburgring at night, with rain, and thunderstorms.

YEAH CAN WE GET SOME TORNADOES AND SOME HAIL TOO? And maybe the occasional earthquake?

Oh, and when you finish 75% maybe a humongous Tsunami could come and wipe us all out. And if anyone was left, they win 10,000,000 Credits!

(The above post reflects sarcasm, which was used in the most extreme way. Do not take the above post serious, unless you are one of those who actually want all this extra crap in the game. In that case, I laugh at you.)

Yeah If it was wet/night/rainy all you would be doing is driving really slow, it wouldn't seem like racing at all. It would get pretty hectic. Unless we had some F1 cars with those nice Rain-Proof tires ;)

The guide describes the track condition you race on. It is fixed for each event and does not vary or can not be changed in any way.

Nurb snow course.. now that would be interesting. :scared:

Not unless they add artic cat, and polaris snowmobiles into the game...lol

wouldnt it be great...

cant be done i am afraid :/

The same thing was done with the GT3 manual. You see absolutely no mention of a wet course unless you're looking at Special Stage Route 5 (GT3's Wet course). If the majority of the courses aren't wet courses, it gets a bit redundant to actually say it's a Dry track.

Nurburgring Nordschleife wet? I know that the 2004 race was wet, but I'd hate to imagine a track like this wet. The track is already tough enough, making the race tougher is about the eqvivalent of winning Tsukuba Wet (Hard race) with a Suzuki Cappucino vs. a Nissan R92CP. I'm not a masochist or have a completely boring life, so I dare not fathom Nurburgring Nordschleife wet, much less racing it. Le Mans wet, maybe, but not Green Hell.

By the way, the thread is on the weather listings made in this book, not on what Nurburgring Nordschleife Wet would be like. Dig?

The ring at night ? From my experience with 24hr Le Mans the hardest time is dawn & twilight on sunny days. If you have a 24hr Ring race then you should expect day -> night -> day, one hopes for GT5. An area of the game then def needs improving.

Rain need not be that bad, unless you are on slicks on the far side of the course when the rain starts. Just trying to get into the pits might be interesting.

Lightning bolts hitting the cars and you have a chance of getting destroyed!

Some races don't stop for rain so why not include it in the game? Le Mans doesn't get rained out unless it's flooding the course, so why not include it? Also, over the course of 24 hours it's gonna get dark and the weather might change. Make it more realistic. I played Le Mans on my dreamcast 6 years ago that had it. GT4 is lacking in this area.

You want Nürburgring at night ? Try Project Gotham Racing 2 for Xbox

Let's not get unrealistic now... It can happen for sure, but come on now. If GT5 included Bathurst, would you want a kangaroo to jump out onto the track all for a car to whack it (like last year's Bathurst 1000)? Even worse would be night with rain. Darkness on a wet track... we've been there before- Special Stage Route 5 Wet (GT3).

Carry on with the topic, please.

Hate to say this, but... been there, done that in a driving game... great fun dodging between earthquakes in Hollywood (?!), and being picked up by tornadoes in louisiana, tossed high into the air, only to land backwards and 200 yards/metres further down the track... still, even that pales with dodging a crashing UFO hitting a bridge in Las Vegas whilst doing 200MPH!

Be careful what you wish for... ;)

As for weather effects, I find it baffling that GT4 still doesn't do them (or even any kind of lighting changes... witness the "endless day" in Le mans 24 hr) when on a less powerful console, Bizarre Creations managed to make Metropolis Street Racer have real time lighting effects (REALLY real time, as it was set by your consoles internal clock!) and some weather effects (admittedly a pretty poor fog, but the rain effects were a trip, could hardly see a thing in downpour... even at noon!)

Imagine sleet, rain followed by ice, sudden wind direction changes, crosswinds, hail, snow, wet and dry patches on the road... and of course day to night/night to day racing! It's the next logical stage for driving sims to follow... more realistic weather/handin in adverse weather. Rally games are going there already... why not GT4?

The Ring, 24hrs, day AND Night, annoying sun in youre eye's when the day start's/ends. Rain, lightning and thunder after a nice sunny day...... pitting in again to change tire's quickly for to prevent sliding of the track continuisly. There goes my lead.... start all over again... But here we go, another 6 hours to take the lead back..

I'm pretty sure the only track that lets you choose "weather" is the track you do in the Special Condition races... I'm pretty sure I've chosen it "wet" from the practice menu... but that's it.
