Webber hits out at old team
Williams now 'Toyota 'b' team'

Feb.13 (GMM) Mark Webber has fired a new salvo at his former grand prix employer, describing Williams as Toyota's 'B' team.

The frustrated Australian switched to Red Bull ahead of the 2007 season following two disappointing years for the beleaguered former champions based at Grove.

Countering media claims that Williams is set to return to former strengths this year, however, 30-year-old Webber derided team boss Frank Williams' deal with Toyota for apparently semi-works engines.

"Of course Williams is a Toyota B team," he is quoted as saying by Melbourne newspaper The Herald Sun.

"There will be denials, but there is a feeling and a perception that a B team is actually how it is now (for them)."

Webber predicts another "tough" season for Williams, despite so far appearing more competitive on the winter test tracks than Red Bull's new 'RB3' racer.

He said: "Not a lot has changed in the structure, so there's no real reason why the results should be any different for them this year.

"Williams' finances are stretched. We have a Bahrain test at the end of the month which will be good. Williams can't go because of its finances."

Well, my opinion of Mark Webber has now changed. Williams may not have the finances of the manufacturers, but they have been surviving in Formula 1 for 30 years now, nine years winning the constructors title, and seven the drivers title.

Mark Webber should STFU and concentrate on his job. I notice that the Red Bulls were 14th(Coulthard) and 15th(Webber), compared to Williams's 9th for Rosberg, and a brilliant 4th for Wurz. I hope to hell Williams knock the living **** out of RBR this coming season.

I think webber is just tyring to get more press with these comments latlely , and I hope he gets beaten by Williams for being so cocky

I can understand how Webber is frustrated, though. He wanted people to buy more from Cosworth so they could make better engines.

Wurz and Rosberg and history > Webber, though. Sorry.

I think that he has no right to say that. I remember in 2005 when they were struggling and Nick Heidfeld kicked his butt, and is he a really good driver like they say? It's only my opinion

Plain and simple, Webber is a git, he should have never been in Formula1.

He should concentrate on riding his silly push bike up and down Tasmania so we never have to hear from him again.

I think Webber is a brilliant driver, more so than Rosberg (who was the worst driver last year to complete a full season IMO). I also feel Williams is now heading in the direction of Jordan. Every team mate Mark has had, he's beaten, if not matched (due to his terrible luck).

Every team he joins will turn to dust. Minardi, Jaguar, Williams. Despite always driving and giving his all it just never works out. He's a cursed driver. I can't think of a driver who's has skill but no real opportunity to showcase it (Salo perhaps).

Imagine this, you go to a team that wins the last GP of the 2004 season. And in 2005 the team splits into 2 sections, the next year you get a customer engine that although starts well just doesn't have the money to keep going. And money is tight. I hope Williams do go bust, as they've wasted his talent and his time.

Statistics don't always proove everything but I wonder if he walked under 100 ladders as a kid. I mean, when he qualified I used to always remember Jarno Trulli (who also is a good qualifier) sometimes is near by but as the Williams is a poor starting car Trulli gets away and Mark is bogged right behind him. I bet you he's not a fan of Panasonic. I mean then there's the retirements (but those retirements will only happen when he's in a strong position).

Seems all the negatives here aren't exactly spot on. I wouldn't call him cocky, rather honest.
