Weekend at Bernie's II tune in menus?

I went back to GT5 last night after a long time way (warming up for GT6), and noticed that in the main menus there was a familiar 'soft jazz' sax tune playing that I didn't remember hearing in the game before. It was really bugging me, and this morning I finally remembered where I had heard a very similar tune--the cartoon intro to Weekend at Bernie's II. There are a fair number of differences between the songs (tempo being a big one) but the basic tune is very similar.

Or is this even a more common tune than I'm thinking--maybe a really old song both borrowed from?

I am unable to answer your question. I can, however, state that this is one of the most original thread topics I have ever seen on here: for that, you shall be commended.

And to further prove I have way too much time on my hands, I dug up the song from gt5:

Now that I hear it fully, it's got a lot more going for it than the basic 'Bernie jingle' from the first 1/3 or so. Naturally being a menu song, the first bit is what I hear over and over again.

Why, oh why, does GT5 see fit to periodically forget my custom music settings? None of this would happen if it simply managed to remember that I'd rather listen to my crappy 'Futurepop' mp3's instead.

Wow. I'd not heard that menu jingle before (I tend to turn off all music in GT games without giving them a listen). Question is, what sort of car does it make you want to drive? A Citroen perhaps?
