I've just done the slipstream challenge and i am on automatic transmission and barely got the gold at 142.9 mph, I've read posts above suggesting the use of manual and I tried but all I could do no matter the long shift, short shift, slipstream was 142.1 mph, don't know what i was doing...
But I got the gold...

I’ve gotten to 145.4mph (234km), and as it stands I’m seeing 7 people have gotten up to 146.6 (236).

What got me more reliable results was shifting early to 5th somewhere around 106/107mph (170/172), tail the first car in the train, and then you’ll have more easy options to transition to another car. I feel like I was close to 146 a couple times, but the front three cars start to wiggle or block you at the end so it’s kind of an RNG outcome as far as the final pull goes.

No idea how those 7 folks squeezed out a 146.6/236.

I had to try [at least] 5 times until I got gold, but I found out driving mostly on the left side of the road & left of the AI cars as much as possible, within the small range of getting drafted helped a lot.

Watkins Glen saw the use of my swapped TTS to get over with.
Grand Valley was used to test my blobeye with one of Exeter's new tunes. Took the lead before the 3rd lap.
Espace special brought back memories and was easy. First try with a 142.9
Nordschleife was in the same car I used for this race last week, modded Elantra. Caught up with the Xiaomi in the Adenauer on the second lap but it's so slow in the twisties I ended up tapping it twice then overtook him. Built a 9 second lead and it was over, won by 6.5 seconds.
Daytona in the same car I always use for this race, the Mazda. Easy as always.
Won 500k with the ticket.

Had zero issues and got gold first try, do you use manual ? Rev limiter can be an issue because rev gauge is not very readable.

Not sure difficulty plays a role, target speeds are the same for everyone I think. Fastest people on my friendslist are only 2km/h higher than me.

I am using manual. One of my attempts, I short shifted into 5th early and went slower. I’ll try it again later tonight and experiment.

I unintentionally used all red cars 😄

As long as you don't hit the limiter.

Contrarily to what someone suggested before, I did not leave a small gap in order to have more margin to accelerate, I just ride on the tail of the closest car until I have enough speed to pass it and get in tow of the closest one. By jumping from car to car and avoiding the final shenanigans of the 3 in front, I was in gold. Done. Shifting before the limiter.

Here ya go:

That's a "safe" tune. I do not share "dangerous" ones. You know, I value safety. 😇
I gave the Hiace a go. And boy, was it fun 😁 It was still a handfull mind you & I was very far away from a CRB for this race😅
I lost it a couple of times and could only manage a 6.50 in my second lap. Have to get used to this little pocket rocket and time my breaking points better

I found this a really enjoyable bundle of events with four clean wins and one second place finish. Even at the high speed event ( my achilles heel ) at Daytona I've been doing quite ok and hey, did you know that I can have big time fun in Avantime slipstream battles down the Hunaudieres ? Yes ! The only little downer ( and that's why I needed a bit more time for testing and trying ) was the now well known WTC600 at the Nordschleife. I had decided to use the 500 Mondial but for my life I didn't get up to the speed needed to escape the SU7. Disappointed yesterday about the lack of skill on my side - ok with it today ! ;)

So far adding a little bit of downforce and making the suspension vaguely usable has brought be from getting lapped 3 times to only getting lapped once. Also I no longer blow a rear tire and run out of fuel half way through lap 5, and instead am able to make it all the way to the pits with mostly consistent pace on lap 5.

I still need to add an LSD and rear wing, and it looks like there’s plenty of room in the suspension to add a bit more power, but I’m handling it incrementally. As it stands I can hit 1:50s with the opponent’s best laps being 1:33s-1:35s, but I may only need one pitstop, many of them need at least two.

As Sabine Schmitz once said:

"I CAN DO THAT IN A VAN!"

Well, I have to join the Sabine club...

I did all five but I never got the three prize tickets?
There's currently two separate guaranteed causes for this:

  • You manually changed your console system clock at some point or logged into your account on a console set to a different time zone
  • You were still playing last week's set when they changed over at midnight on Friday
