This week's race was thought up by Jetboys427.

You may use any of these 5 cars:

FPV GT
FPV Typhoon
Holden Monaro CV8
Holden Commadore SS
Pontiac GTO

You must use R1 tires (or anything worse than that if you really want to), and either no downforce or no TCS. Anything else is fine.

At the conclusion of this race you must post your setup if you win. Otherwise you may be taken out by a rogue sniper looking for a job.

This will end midnight September 27th, CST. Please pm me or post your time in this thread by that time.

Hmm, either no downforce or no TCS - looks like I have some serious testing ahead of me.
 
Sounds fun. My choice for either TCS or downforce is obvious. Bye bye wing, hellllllloooo 1,200 saved credits!
 
5 Cars to choose from...are u serious!!! Thats rediculous! I dont have the time to be playing GT4 all day to see which car has the most potential. 1 car is enough, 5 cars is rediculous!!! I prolly wont even mess with it this week.......
 
you could always just wait two or three days and find out what the favorite is then.

I try to make these fairly open ended because otherwise people would complain that it's too easy. Where's the challenge in being told "Here is your car, put R5 tires on it Nitrous and all the racing parts you can." We all know by now how to tune the suspension well enough, and I'm sure by now most of us have a grasp on the weight balance, TCS, and transmission. I have to make it challenging SOMEHOW.
 
Trans gearing and all that goes into it. IF its one car it makes it ALOT more even. Driving style on alot of the cars makes em faster as well. Hell the last 2 weeks my cars have deffinatly went faster without TCS then with it. And i have to drive them in defferent ways. Not just floor it and shift at redline, there ALOT more to it then that. You have to see where the power curve is and gear ur gears around it ect ect ect. Picking between 5 different cars is just to time consuming to me. But i have alot goin on and the only time i ever get on the PS2 is at night when im up late and bored.
 
I've only done a few runs but I've chosen my car for this week.

Now to try using the wing instead.
 
Goofed off and got a 11.093... Very temperamental car....

I understand, a close field really brings out the best person to shine on that extra last bit of tweaking.

My time is late at night when everybody is asleep.

We can help you figure out what you are doing easy enough. Go back and check out some of the posted settings in previous weeks, and always feel free to ask questions. The gear ratios still have me scratching my head most weeks :crazy:
 
Yeah Im messing about with the gear ratios.. i have a basic understanding of it.. ive been putting the final at 5.5, and i dunno i think 11 for the overall one (forgot wat it was called)

anyhow.. settings. full tune on everything n/a stage 3 so i got around 65x ish horsepower,
Ive lowered the car to lowest ride height coz i thought it would be cool :D
LSD 10/5/20 (i just changed the acceleration to 5)
change the stablisers and toe and bounce to 0 (or the lowest amount)
rear/front weight ive put everything on the +50 (so the rear)
didnt touch the ballast.
oh yeah and NOS full power i think its at 50??


umm thats about it i think it :)
Probably bodgey settings but im learning! so any hints??? :P

Keep the rear lowered but try raising the front.

Put the LSD acceleration to 60 so power goes to both back wheels equally.

Stabilisers don't do too much but the dampers will probably be better with a high Bound at the front and high Rebound at the rear.

Front/Back weight only applies to the ballast weight you add, so +50 with no ballast isn't doing anything for you.

Full NOS is good.

The gears can be tricky - a lower diff ratio is better for acceleration but can cause you to spin you wheels too easily. These cars lose some time changing gears so try using only 3 gears. If you are using Manual transmission you can try a second gear launch to stop the wheel spin too.

Of course all the above info is just my humble opinion.

If you guys are worried about time and testing 5 cars, I am using the GTO and it seems like it would be the fastest to me.

I could n't get the GTO down that low so I've gone with the F6 Typhoon - now running 10.501.
 
Results posted, I'll have my settings up in a minute.
