mmm...the cup of water. don't break the tofu.

I have replays as proof that full-brake/full-throttle is NOT the way to go. For instance, iB5...it took me a while to gold this test with the 3400, and I finally got it using fine throttle control. I would always give too much and create too much oversteer. So, no. Full brake and full gas is not the best way to drive.

There are also proof that it can be a solution. IB7 can be done flat-out, speed control being done by small drifts (not IB6 because of the ASM); IA2 is also a flat-out gold license...
The problem with the full-brake / full-gas method is that it forgives no error. When you brake too late or accelerate too soon, you're out. That's why it's most of the time a theoretical view of what the best time could be.

hard breaking and leadfooted accellerating is mostly an F1/ indy philosophy, since those cars are so freakishly tuned you can be pretty rough on them w/ all of that downforce.

I have to ditto what Famine noted... I personally find that I have total control over the acceleration with the D buttons, and can hover the needle at almost any point on the tach. Also, with the D buttons you have the advantage of being able to change the gas input very quickly, since there's less travel. But, whatever paddles your guys' canoes. :)

Famine, I stand corrected but I still cant get that level of sensitivity in my thumb when I press a button. Do you still have the level of control after 78 laps at Cote D Azur? My thum is numb.

I raced the Trial Mountain 2hr race three times in one day for fun... :D It's probably a little off, but not noticeably so.
