Weird Seattle Circuit Scenary

First off, I just want to say hi, I have been lurking for awhile, this is my first post.
Anyways, I noticed something on the seattle circuit and I can't figure out what it is.
As you are heading down the back straight away and take the slight bend to the right, there is a giant bridge or some kind of structure off to the right, it looks huge!
Anybody know what I am talking about and can fill me in as to what it is?
If it is real, any pics of the real thing?

Actually, I can't help you much because I never notice the scenery. I'm too focussed on the next corner!

Hey, welcome to the forums. :)

Umm... I'd have to walk to the other room and fire it up, but the only structure I can think about at Seattle is the KingDome. And I don't think that's located where you are talkin'.

<shrug> But, since no one else can prove any differently right at this moment, I'm declaring myself right. :lol:

It's the Seattle KingDome
 
I recognize the dome, it is like a lift bridge or something.

lol - Well, so much for my theory - I guess someone can prove me wrong.

<shrug> I'll check it out later. Or, if you've got time to kill, hunt down a thread on "breaking out of the track" and then just cruise around in the background and take a closer look.
 
It's a highway bridge, I think. Yes it's a highway bridge. Not sure what street name though. Anyone here noticed the BP gas station?
 
Yes it looks like a bridge, but it is weird because it is just sitting there with no streets attached to it or anything.
I find it very weird, could just be me though.
 
I think it's attached to a street, guarded by a wall.
 
Hmmm... I *might* know what you're talking about... though I've never seen a bridge from the viewpoint of the racing course, I can tell you that if you break out of the course, you will see a huge (and a mean HUGE) bridge floating in space... I've tried driving on it, but unfortunately there's no way for me to break out high enough to get on, so the underneath view must suffice. :)

BTW, ethanol, don't hurt your shoulders from shrugging them too much... ;)

TO tell you'll its not a bridge its a Baseball field!!!!!!the seattle Mariners!!!!!!catch my drift....then across that is the seattle Seahawk stadium

I sure don't know. I don't even know if the da•n thing is feasible... the length simply looks too long for a normal beam bridge... I mean, it doesn't even have a truss support! [Beam] bridges that long can't hold up without a truss support! Because of this, I don't think it's real... it just doesn't seem physically possible.
 
Oh I love GT3.....I play it 99% of the time. But I've just never seen people wonder so much about a track that's fake.
 
Seattle's not fake...it's mostly real.

Powerman: No, it's a bridge. The Kingdome was where they play - it's not in the area described. Safeco is to the direct left of the track, so it's not that either.

Ugh - you noticed I do that alot eh? lol - I got into that years ago from yappin' on IRC and trying to let people know that I don't really know what I'm talking about.

its the big grey stadium looking building at the end of the right hand corner after you leave the City area isnt it?
 
The whole Seattle area in the game is real, but the track itself, is fake.

:lol: Sorry, couldn't help noticing... ;) (Then again, I have bad habits myself, such as my trademark three dots after every sentence...) :p

BTW Warped, I was just trying to prove that it wasn't real... Toogy asked what it was (I'm assuming in the context of what it is in real life), and I answered by saying that since it's not even physically possible, it's not real, thus answering his question. *sigh*
 
But I could be wrong. When GT3 was still in dev. I rember seeing an interview or an FAQ that adressed the Kingdome. If I do recal the Kingdome was destroyed and so the Dev. team did NOT include it in the game. Besides on GT2 wasnt the kingdome on the RIGHT of the course. Which is now that big ass parkinglot that you dip into? :thatsodd: I could be wrong but I doubt it :D
 
The Kingdome is still in the game. It's on the right of the car park you race through.
 
In an IGN article comparing Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec to
Gran Turismo 2000 they used to Seatle track to compare the graphics of the game...

The biggest thing that stands out here is that GT2000 didn't have Safeco Field and GT3 has it in the background. As with all of the background objects in GT3, Safeco Field has real geometry and an accurate sense of size and depth. Also take note of the building on the left, it's much more detailed and looks even more lifelike.

Wow... If they did that in 7 months Gran Turismo 4 is going to be AMAZING. Good Job PD.

BTW: Is it just me or do the concept versions look more... "crisp" than GT3?
