Whenever I turn my 360 on, I'm automatically signed in to my main account (which has Xbox Live Gold). Lately when I do this, I'm not getting signed into Live. When I try to sign in manually, I'm told it cannot connect and suggests I test my connection or try to recover my profile. If I test the XBL connection, everything passes and I can sign into my account and all is well as it should've been. This happens every time I turn it on (with the exception of being successfully signed in and resetting the system - sometimes it works fine that way). So, WTF is this thing doing? It doesn't do anything if I simply sign out and sign back in either, so that's not what is fixing it.

Welcome to my world of internet gaming, my 360 does exactly the same thing, sometimes it doesn't, but it seems totally random. Also it always does this when I was playing on my PS3 before...

I think it's a dns issue, I would love to see what's going on on MS and/ or Sony servers to find out about what's causing this ( I also get ridicilous lag sometimes despite my connection being perfectly fine), but these companies aren't very helpful at all in such a case.

So, if you find out something I'd love to hear it. 👍

Sorry can't help any further tho other than that resetting the modem resolves the issue for a brief period of time for me.

Hm. What kind of router are you using? I have a Linksys WRT54GL using DD-WRT firmware. It actually kinda coincided with switching to the third party firmware but I've opened every port that is needed with XBL. It works flawlessly after I go through the steps in the first post. PS3 use is unrelated in my case.

Sorry for the late reply, I have a netgear router, but this also happens when I just use my modems (Arris and Fritz!).

I acctually don't think it has something to do with my equippment as I have tried a few things and I also have 2 internet connections (dsl and cable) and same problems with both...
The strangest thing is that sometimes I'll have absulotely perfect online play for a couple of days, but then it just goes back to 'unplayable' mode for some reason... probably the problem lies somewhere in my regions network, I just found it interesting I have the same problem like you with my Live account.

Have you found a solution yet?

I know I own a PS3, but sometimes(once a week usually) when I'm playing CoD MW2 online, it takes ages to find a lobby, then when the session is loading it gets to the point where it says on screen 'setting up game....' then nothing. It then goes back to the lobby screen with a message 'server connection timed out'. My solution is simple: turn my router off and on. Works every time.
